DEVILDRIVER (formerly DEATHRIDE), the new Santa Barbara, California-based project featuring ex-COAL CHAMBER frontman Dez Fafara, have changed the title of their upcoming debut album to simply "DevilDriver" from the originally planned "Straight To Hell".Says Fafara: "[The title change was made] for so many reasons that I can't even go into." The group are currently mixing the CD with Greg Reeley (FEAR FACTORY, MACHINE HEAD) for a fall release through Roadrunner Records. "The first three songs [to be mixed] are 'I Could Care Less', 'Nothing's Wrong?' and 'Die (And Die Now)'," says Dez. "We will be receiving these mixes by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. And, of course, 'Swinging The Dead' [which appears on the 'Freddy vs Jason' soundtrack, due August 12 through Roadrunner] has been remixed. Wait till you hear how thumpin' the new mixes are." The band, whose sound is being described as "much heavier" than that of COAL CHAMBER and featuring "more technical" musicianship than that found in Fafara's former band, recorded the album with producer Ross Hogarth, who has previously worked with COAL CHAMBER, MÖTLEY CRÜE, and FASTER PUSSYCAT, among others. DEVILDRIVER will team up with DANZIG and SUPERJOINT RITUAL for the fall 2003 installment of the "Blackest Of The Black" tour, tentatively set to kick off in early October.
