DESPISED ICON Parts Ways With Guitarist, Seeks Replacement

December 17, 2006

Singer Alex Erian of the Montreal-based deathcore six-piece DESPISED ICON has posted the following message on the band's official web site:

"Some great and bad news to report. First, we'll start off with the good. We have our first European tour finally confirmed in March and April with UNEARTH, JOB FOR A COWBOY and DAATH. Should be an amazing tour. We want to thank Paul Conroy and everyone in the UNEARTH camp for hooking this up for us. Right before we leave, we'll be doing a bunch of Canadian and a few U.S. dates with JOB FOR A COWBOY.

"Next off, our guitar player, Yannick St-Amand, will unfortunately be leaving the band to focus more on his family life. It's hard to see him go. We can't thank him enough for his contribution to this band and we'll always remember the good times we all had. We wish him the best with his wife and newborn child. Yannick will now be a full time studio engineer and producer, with our new record being next in line for him. The recording starts January 2nd! Yannick will produce everything, then head over to the U.K. with Eric to hook up with Andy Sneap and oversee the mixing. Eric and Alex P. have worked hard writing most of this record and we're all stoked about it!

"So this brings us to our next announcement. We're looking for a good guy/experienced guitarist that is ready to tour right away. To audition, learn 'Bulletproof Scales' and 'Warm Blooded'. Click here for the tabs. Tape yourself playing the songs, upload the footage and send us a link to your video at [email protected]."

DESPISED ICON's recently completed Monsters of Mayhem tour with THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, FIRST BLOOD, NAPALM DEATH, EXODUS and HATEBREED was the band's sixth trek in support of its highly acclaimed album, "The Healing Process", which is a relentless slab of sheer aggression matched with impeccable time changes that quickly raised the bar for their peers. They completed a very successful run this past spring on the Monsters of Chaos tour with MORBID ANGEL and labelmates BEHEMOTH and KRISIUN.

DESPISED ICON shot a video for the track "The Sunset Will Never Charm Us" with acclaimed director Jean-Philippe Bernier (A PERFECT MURDER) and you can check it out at this location.
