DEFTONES To Issue New Album In May

DEFTONES' forthcoming studio album, which looks likely to be a self-titled affair, is tentatively scheduled to surface in May through Maverick Records, frontman Chino Moreno confirmed during an appearance yesterday (Jan. 19) on Australia's Channel V.

The follow-up to 2000's platinum-certified "White Pony" is currently being mixed by longtime collaborator Terry Date and is said to feature no guests.

The band, who are touring Australia as part of the Big Day Out traveling festival, began writing and recording basic tracks for the upcoming album last March in their Sacramento rehearsal space after taking a five-month break.
