DEEP PURPLE Sign With EDEL RECORDS

June 29, 2005

DEEP PURPLE have inked a deal with Edel Records. The deal will reportedly cover the entire world outside the U.S.

As previously reported, DEEP PURPLE have set "Rapture of the Deep" as the title of their new studio album, tentatively due in October.

DEEP PURPLE recently spent five weeks at a Los Angeles studio recording the new CD with producer Mike Bradford. The album, which will be the group's first release since their split with the EMI label, is described by keyboardist Don Airey as "a lot heavier" than 2003's "Bananas". "We recorded it in the same studio that use to be used by KORN, and it's got a wonderful sound," Airey said. "It's got a real, immediate drum and organ sound. I was really happy working in there."
