DEATHRASH: Rare Video Footage Unearthed

January 21, 2007

Bassist/founding member Pat Burns of the reunited New Jersey thrashers DEATHRASH has issued the following update:

"We got word last weekend that a video from our Sept. 27, 1986 show at The Grunge Club has surfaced! This is excellent news as we have been looking for a copy since we got back together. We are going to have it transferred to DVD and post some songs on our website and MySpace page.

"The Grunge Club was a warehouse in Middletown, NY where our old friend Mark Johnson used to put on shows. We played there a few times and it always RAGED! The shows really captured the DIY spirit of the times — no stage, no light show, no bullshit. Just original bands giving it all they've got for a couple of hundred crazed thrashers!

"Tracks from our Grunge Club shows will be on the 'Thrash beyond Death' CD. We'll keep you informed as things develop with the CD and video postings!

In other news, DEATHRASH has posted the song "Feel You Die" at its MySpace page. The track is just one of the live recordings that will be on the forthcoming "Thrash beyond Death" CD.

According to Burns, "This fan recording is from a Dec. 21, 1986 show we did with CALIGULA and HALLOWS EVE at The Grunge Club in Middletown, New York. The show thrashed and you can hear the crowd backing up John as he screams 'Feel You Die!'

"Although we wish the sound quality was better, our good friend Dave Shack really caught the spirit of the show. Of all the times we played The Grunge Club, this show was our favorite. Tapes of the show have been traded by collectors over the years, but this is the first time it has been released by DEATHRASH."

The upcoming DEATHRASH CD, "Thrash beyond Death", is expected to include live recordings circa 1986-87 from CBGB in New York City, The Grunge Club in upstate New York and the band's last show at The Electric Banana in Pittsburgh. In addition, the album will include the new songs "Unfinished Business" and "Thrash beyond Death". All the original members are involved: John Scherer (vocals),Pat Nemeth (guitar),Tim Scherer (guitar) and Pat Burns (bass).

DEATHRASH's lineup briefly included drummer Tony Scaglione, who had previously played with WHIPLASH, SLAYER, LUDICHRIST and RAGING SLAB, among other acts.
