Death Metal Drummer Charged With Child Porn Production

October 24, 2012

According to KDSK-TV, Martin L. Evanick, the 31-year-old drummer and vocalist for the Illinois death metal band THE CORE OF YOUR NIGHTMARES, is facing federal child pornography charges.

Evanick, who performs under the pseudonym "Vlad," was indicted last week and is being held without bail.

According to Southern District of Illinois prosecutors, Evanick had sex with a minor in April and took close-up photos of the minor's genitalia.

If convicted, Evanick faces between 15 and 30 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and term of supervised release between five years and life.

The other members of THE CORE OF YOUR NIGHTMARES posted a statement on Facebook distancing themselves from Evanick's behavior. "We had no involvement or knowledge about these acts, and we in no way condone in such actions," they wrote. "What happened to him is unfortunate, but he brought it on himself."

They added in a separate post, "We DO NOT condone in any of the actions Vlad partook and we are appalled by his behavior. [He] never exhibited any kind of behavior that would make us suspect he would do what he did."

Evanick's THE CORE OF YOUR NIGHTMARES bandmates have vowed to continue making music without him under another name.
