DARK ANGEL Destroy Santa Ana With Unannounced Set

October 4, 2002

As widely anticipated, DARK ANGEL guitarist Jim Durkin, vocalist Ron Rinehart, and guitarist Eric Meyer joined drummer Al "Mayhem" Mendez and bassist Jeremy Peto (ex-MORGION) at the conclusion of DREAMS OF DAMNATION's opening set (featuring Durkin) at Monday night's KREATOR/DESTRUCTION gig at The Galaxy Theater in Santa Ana, California and tore into "Burning Of Sodom", the second song off DARK ANGEL's classic second album Darkness Descends. The group's brief appearance — which Jim dedicated to the two headliners — concluded with "Merciless Death", featuring DREAMS OF DAMNATION's own Loana dP Valencia on backing vocals. Present in the audience were guitarist Mike Wead of MERCYFUL FATE and MARDUK bassist B.War.

Commented Valencia: "To have been onstage to sing back ups on 'Merciless Death' with one of my own favorite thrash metal bands was a PRIVILEGE & HONOR that is BEYOND WORDS to describe. I think I can die happy now..."

The reunited DARK ANGEL — featuring STRAPPING YOUNG LAD drummer Gene Hoglan — will embark on a short West Coast tour in early December. For more information, click here.
