CRÜE FEST, ROCKSTAR ENERGY MAYHEM Nominated For Billboard Concert Marketing Award

September 30, 2008

Crüe Fest/Rock Band and the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival are among the seven finalists competing for the second annual Billboard Concert Marketing & Promotion Award, which will be given to a sponsorship or promotion that benefited the concert industry at large by stimulating attendance to live events, providing value to fans, and promoting the artist and brands involved. The sponsorship or promotion must achieve its marketing goal in a quantifiable way; and can be a tour title sponsorship, a venue naming rights deal, a touring artist's endorsement deal, a single show sponsor, a festival sponsorship, a multifaceted tour sponsorship integration, or other deal, as long as it pertains to live performance that took place between January and September 2008.

Voting is open until October 31, so don't miss your chance to choose the winner!

The winner of the second Billboard Concert Marketing & Promotion Award will be announced at the Billboard Touring Conference & Awards, set for November 19-20 at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City.

A 40-plus-city North American amphitheater tour, the MÖTLEY CRÜE-headlined Crüe Fest '08 wrapped August 31 at the Post-Gazette Pavilion in Pittsburgh.

Bassist Nikki Sixx of MÖTLEY CRÜE previously stated about the trek, "We are SO excited not only to headline our own annual summer festival, but also to be able to share the stage with the next generation of great rock bands. There's not a lot MÖTLEY CRÜE hasn't done so to say this summer's festival is going to be about rock 'n roll excess is an understatement. A night of hit songs by great bands and a trail of panties coast to coast ... Crüe Fest, hell yeah!"

In addition to the CRÜE, other acts on the Crüe Fest bill included BUCKCHERRY, PAPA ROACH, TRAPT and SIXX: A.M. (featuring Nikki Sixx).

Joining SLIPKNOT and DISTURBED on the Rockstar Energy Mayhem main stage were DRAGONFORCE and MASTODON. In addition, the tour had two second stages: one sponsored by Jägermeister and featuring AIRBOURNE, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH and 36 CRAZYFISTS. An additional second stage features MACHINE HEAD, BLACK TIDE, SUICIDE SILENCE, THE RED CHORD, and WALLS OF JERICHO.

Rockstar Energy Mayhem was produced by Warped founder Kevin Lyman, his partner on the Rockstar Taste Of Chaos tour John Reese, CAA's Darryl Eaton, and Jason Garner, Live Nation Chief Executive Officer of North American Music.

Jayme Foxx of Altitude interviewed fans at the San Bernardino, California stop of Crüe Fest '08 on August 2, 2008 at San Manuel Amphitheater. Watch the four-minute clip below for some MÖTLEY CRÜE karaoke, drunk antics, and, of course, lots of girls flashing the camera.

A three-minute video clip capturing all the madness of the July 30, 2008 stop of the 2008 Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival at the Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Florida — including headbanging metal, moshpits, crowd-surfing and all the pumped up fans — can be viewed below (footage shot and edited by Teenlink).
