CODE: New Album Delayed

March 30, 2009

CODE — the British/Norwegian black metal project featuring bassist/backing vocalist Viper (a.k.a. Vicotnik from DHG),guitarist/songwriter Aort, drummer Adrian Erlandsson (AT THE GATES, CRADLE OF FILTH) and vocalist Kvohst (DØDHEIMSGARD) — has issued the following update:

"Due to some serious errors in the printing and pressing of the CD and cover art, we have had to delay the release of [CODE's second album] 'Resplendent Grotesque' until June 1st.

"We apologise profusely that we weren't able to meet our initial scheduled date for the album, but, as well as correcting the errors, this will give us the time to prepare and plan a more thorough and exciting release on the same day across Norway, Europe and hopefully the U.S. and Asia. We will try to plan some more live shows around June to support the release and there will be some listening sessions/release parties planned for March/April and at the Inferno festival.

"We want the album to be perfect in every way, to meet the vision we have of our music and to present it with the ideal aesthetic. We have taken great care in the design and artwork for the release, to make it something worth owning and treasuring. We hope you understand and support us in this. It's a few more weeks to wait, but it will be worth it in the end.

"We will continue to preview tracks from the album, starting again in the next few weeks. We will also have a new 'Resplendent Grotesque' limited tee shirt celebrating the release designed by KTL, our lettering/script illustrator for 'Nouveau Gloaming', who has previously illustrated the music of DISSECTION, WATAIN, DEATHSPELL OMEGA, KAAMOS, DEAD CONGREGATION, TEITANBLOOD and OPETH."

Commented the band: "[The artwork was] created, painted and lovingly slaved over by the enigmatic, brilliant and cult artist Stephen Kasner. We are eternally grateful and blessed for his vivid and inspired portrayal of our music. As the man himself remarked, 'I feel very successful in channeling the emotions and ideas, in my own way, as they were described to me. And of course, your music was more than enough to evoke the demons. They have made themselves clearly known in these works, I am certain.'"

According to the band, the follow-up to 2005's "Nouveau Gloaming" will contain "songs of necrospiritual dust and desertion, crafted by bony hands in blackbird gloves." Aort previously stated about the CD, "Adrian completely devastated the drums for this recording and Vicotnik has manageed to really outdo himself with his most inspired bass work yet. I think we have all raised the bar with this recording and we are itching to get these morbid hymns out to you."
