CHICKENFOOT Hoping To Make New Music In 2014

May 8, 2013

The official web site of CHICKENFOOT, the supergroup featuring guitarist Joe Satriani, drummer Chad Smith, former VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony and frontman Sammy Hagar, has been updated with the following message:

"CHICKENFOOT is hoping to get together and make some more music in 2014.

"Although they haven't played together, the guys have been seeing each other here and there over recent months.

"Sammy stopped in at Skywalker Studios during Joe's recording of his new album and has commented on his hopes in this article. Joe also answered questions about getting together with CHICKENFOOT on a recent interview on 107.7 The Bone and Chad and Mike also recently joined Sammy in the studio to play on some tracks for him on his upcoming solo album. And, of course, Mike was recently on stage with Sammy at his annual Cinco De Mayo show in Tahoe.

"So, the guys are busy but with Chad's time freeing up, odds are good that they'll be returning to playing music together in 2014 after Joe and Sammy's solo tours later this year."

CHICKENFOOT recently reissued its gold-selling 2009 self-titled debut as a double-disc set. The new version features bonus live tracks recorded on the group's tour behind its sophomore studio effort, "III"

CHICKENFOOT's most recent touring lineup included legendary drummer/musician Kenny Aronoff, who was filling in for Smith while Chad was on the road with RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS.

"III" sold 42,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 9 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band's self-titled debut opened with 49,000 units back in June 2009 to debut at No. 6.
