CHAOSBREED Begin Writing Material For Sophomore Album

March 12, 2004

CHAOSBREED, the new Finnish death metal supergroup consisting of drummer Nalle Österman (ex-GANDALF),bassist Oppu Laine (ex-AMORPHIS, MANNHAI),guitarist Marko Tarvonen (MOONSORROW),guitarist Esa Holopainen (AMORPHIS),and vocalist Taneli Jarva (ex-SENTENCED, THE BLACK LEAGUE),have posted the following message on their official web site:

"Still another month until 'Brutal' is in the shops... Can't stand the wait anymore! Also heard from reliable sources that 'Brutal' is already downloadable from the 'Net. Oh well, guess you have to download it from somewhere if you can't stand the wait. Just for the record: our album (and any album for that matter!) sounds waaay better as a regular CD than as MP3s. So why accept a substitute when you can have the real thing soon? 'If you can't eat it or fuck it, then kill it.' Nah, I mean, if you can't buy it or try it, then steal it!

"And in our case also on good ole' vinyl! Yeah, you read it right: those generous people at Century Media have de(i)cided to print 'Brutal' on vinyl. This edition printed on heavy 180 ggr vinyl will be limited only to 500 copies, so get your copy ASAP before they are gone. And if this wasn't enough, the vinyl edition contains 'Slutrush' and the spooky intro as added bonuses. Well, guess those days are over when CDs used to contain bonus songs to excuse its higher price. So you pay more for a CD and get less — how's that for logic? Well, I guess MP3's are the answer.

"Oh well, today you get DVD's on your albums. 'Hey daddy, can we have a DVD on our album as well?' Oh yeah, you need some moving pictures for a DVD. Well, we got some studio footage as well as live material and some other shit shot for any future use. Time shall tell what will happen. We have been told that the national Finnish TV network YLE will also shoot our gig at Tuska-festival, which promises some killer footage for a DVD. So any production companies, who are interested in working on a CHAOSBREED DVD-venture, get in touch.

"But we had some actual news to tell you (as opposed to some nonsense-babbling): we have started to write new songs for our second album. Yeah, we have several new songs written, two of which were yesterday recorded for the long-awaited 7"-split EP with RYTMIHÄIRIÖ, long-delayed due to unfortunate and unforeseen incidents during our previous two studio-sessions. Our originals were taped by the first take and the cover ('Funeral Bitch' by MASTER) by the second. Yet vocals need to be completed as well as the mix and then we're done. We will keep you posted when this limited edition 7"-split EP will be available. Pictures from this studio session can be found here.

"Anyway, writing music for the next album seems to progress so well that we have spoken of entering the studio by the end of this year to record our second full-length album. Hopefully we can have it released approximately a year after the release of 'Brutal', preferably April-May 2005. Before that we try to play as many shows as possible. Therefore check out the live-section on our website regularly for updates. We might just come to a town near you.

" 'Why a new album if the first one is not even in the shops?' some might ask - and rightly so. Well, we have composed songs and they sound good, so why would we want to wait? I guess some marketing strategists would not be too thrilled when hearing this as they probably have some diametric curve which shows that sales wise this decision will decrease sales in certain territories by 12,6 % or some similar bullshit. But we are not marketing strategists. What a boring place this world would be if everyone would give business lectures instead of writing new music? Hello Gene, are you listening? 'Brutal' is going to kick your butt. Or should I say Asshole?

"PS: 'By the way, we have some limited edition CHAOSBREED-caskets coming in, prices start from one million euros upwards.' Just kidding. We should have some new shirts coming in pretty soon as well as a revamped website, so remember to check out the site regularly for any changes and updates. Have a good die."
