CELLOUT Signs With NUERRA RECORDS

June 18, 2009

Stockholm hard rock quartet CELLOUT has inked a deal with Nuerra Records. The band's new album, "Superstar Prototype", will be released later in the year. According to a press release, the CD's leadoff single, "As I Fall", "flaunts a seamless blend of the pit-friendly shredding, hairpin turns and infectious melodies that are this unapologetically heavy young band's trademark." Guided by the powerful mixing hand of Grammy nominee Ulrich Wild (PANTERA, DEFTONES, STATIC-X),"Prototype"'s title is as ambitious as its content, aspiring to be "the blueprint… which all metal/rock records will set as standard," according to frontman Percy Mejhagen.

Nuerra is no stranger to developing dynamic, aggressive artists, so CELLOUT was a natural selection for its roster, says Nuerra head Michael Phelan. "Whenever you have an artist that can incorporate a great riff with a solid melody, it's always a winner!" he explains. "It always will be. In other words, 'As I Fall' has all the essential ingredients.

"I believe that the intelligence of a songwriter shows in how dynamic he or she dares to be," adds Mejhagen. "No matter how 'hard' or 'fast' a song is, it still has [to have] that big fat chorus, which I hope will be CELLOUT's trademark in the future."

"It's a joy to mix these because the songs are recorded well and they understand dynamics," Wild notes. "It's very chorus-oriented, but Percy has a great voice and he knows how to use it and deliver different, diverse flavors."

With such a volatile debut on their hands, Mejhagen, guitarist Robert Monegrim, bassist Anders Sevebo and drummer Martin Karlsson are in no way about to relax now. CELLOUT will be destroying at Sweden's annual Rockweekend festival in July alongside powerhouses like CHICKENFOOT, TESTAMENT and QUEENSRŸCHE.

In the interim, they'll be working with acclaimed director Patric Ullaeus of Revolver Film Company (IN FLAMES, ARCH ENEMY) on the video for "As I Fall", with acclaimed artist and designer, Derek Hess handling the artwork.

"['As I Fall'] pretty much chose itself as the single," Mejhagen concludes. "It displays CELLOUT's whole range in one song — hard, slow, fast and mellow. Just crank the fucker up loud, form the horns and grab a cold one!"
