BUMBLEFOOT Is 'Frustrated' By Web Sites Twisting His Words Around 'To Make It Something That's Inflammatory'

February 20, 2018

Sofa King Cool recenty conducted an interview with former GUNS N' ROSES and current SONS OF APOLLO guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal. You can now watch the chat below.

Asked if it "bothers" him that so many interviewers are fishing for clickbait quotes with their questions nowadays, Thal responded: "That frustrates everybody, yeah. Because, like this, we're having a great conversation. Now someone else is gonna be, like, 'Oh, I can be an opportunist little shit and I can take one thing that someone said and twist it around to make it something that's inflammatory,' which is not fair to that person, who didn't say it in that context. Or if it's starting shit between two camps or something like that — that's not cool. It's not fair to manipulate the fans and get them all riled up in a negative way. And why is this person doing that? So that they can make money on more ad revenue, getting more clicks, and that's just shit."

He continued: "I think the majority of the press world doesn't do that. I think that they do it because they love it and they feel like they have this moral obligation to be the conduit between members of the world and getting the word out and transferring information and helping things become bigger. I think that's where most people stand with it all. But every once in a while, a headline will get out and I'll just wake up in the morning, and I'm, like, 'That's not how I said it. That's not what I meant. It looks so evil in print.' But within two days, it's gone. If you just leave it alone, it fizzles away. Everyone's cursing you out for two days, and then they're cursing someone else out."

Thal joined GUNS N' ROSES in 2006, replacing Buckethead. He played with the band for eight years and performed on "Chinese Democracy". He has also released nine full-length solo albums over the past 23 years, most recently 2015's "Little Brother Is Watching", which was reissued on CD and vinyl last August by MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson's EMP Label Group.

SONS OF APOLLO's debut album, "Psychotic Symphony", was released October 20 by InsideOut Music.
