Box Set From Grunge Pioneers MOTHER LOVE BONE Lands On Five Charts

November 17, 2016

According to Billboard.com, "Mother Love Bone: On Earth As It Is", a reissue set of works from Seattle rock band MOTHER LOVE BONE, debuts on five charts dated November 26, including Top Rock Albums, where it bows at No. 28 with 3,000 copies sold. The collection was made available on November 4 through UMC (via Stardog Records).

"Mother Love Bone: On Earth As It Is" also opens at Nos. 10 and 17, respectively, on Hard Rock Albums and Alternative Albums, plus No. 19 on Internet Albums after moving 2,000 copies digitally. Its best rank is on the Vinyl Albums chart, where it starts at No. 5 with 1,000 vinyl copies sold.

MOTHER LOVE BONE was established in 1988 by ex-GREEN RIVER members Jeff Ament, Bruce Fairweather and Stone Gossard, ex-MALFUNKSHUN frontman Andrew Wood and ex-TEN MINUTE WARNING and SKIN YARD drummer Greg Gilmore. Wood's personality and compositions helped to catapult the group to the top of the burgeoning late 1980s/early 1990s Seattle music scene. Wood died tragically only days before the scheduled release of the band's debut album, "Apple". The album was finally released a few months later.

"Mother Love Bone: On Earth As It Is" was made available in both a vinyl and CD/DVD set. The vinyl and CD/DVD sets are packaged in slipcase artwork replicating a legendary MOTHER LOVE BONE mural that graced the exterior wall of famed Seattle nightclub The Vogue. The wall mural was re-painted by Jeff Ament on the side of West Seattle's Easy Street Records in May 2016.

The 3-CD-and-1-DVD set includes:

* "Apple" and "Shine" on one disc — remastered for the first time by Ed Brooks at RFI Mastering
* Over 20 recordings that include rare B-sides, demos, alternate versions, and unreleased songs, including Andrew Wood's demo recording of "Chloe Dancer" and a live version of "Stardog Champion" featuring Chris Cornell and PEARL JAM.
* "Love Bone Earth Affair" DVD — available for the first time on DVD and including bonus features of rare unseen live MOTHER LOVE BONE performances and more
* 24-page booklet with lyrics, credits and photos

Stardog Records was created by PolyGram Records in 1989 exclusively as an imprint for Seattle glam-rock act MOTHER LOVE BONE and the group's releases with subsidiary Mercury Records. The label's name is a nod to the MOTHER LOVE BONE song "Stardog Champion".

In partnership with Republic Records, Stardog Records was revitalized in 2016.
