BLOOD MORTIZED: Three Songs From Debut Album Posted Online

BLOOD MORTIZED, the Swedish death metal band featuring former AMON AMARTH guitarist Anders Hansson (who played on AMON AMARTH's first two albums, 1996's "Sorrow Throughout The Nine Worlds" and 1998's "Once Sent From The Golden Hall") and CRYPT OF KERBEROS drummer Mattias Borgh, has posted three songs from its forthcoming self-titled debut album on the group's MySpace page. The CD will be released in April through Singapore's Vrykoblast Productions.

Commented Borgh: "All in all, twelve tracks are recorded [for the debut BLOOD MORTIZED CD]. Actually, some of the tracks will not fit on the 80-minute format the CD offers, BUT most likely you can expect some of the tracks to be exclusive for the vinyl release, or perhaps a 7" EP. Time will tell on that one.

"My main goal has been to really focus on groove and making all the drum parts sound very organic. A minimum of editing will be done. Why? Because I am having a really hard time with modern death metal and drum productions that sound like a secretary working out on a typewriter. Therefore you will hear some things like a fill that doesn't work out perfectly, bass drums which actually are played and not programmed, it's all part of a small thing we humans know as MUSIC, if you get my point.

"Something else I tried to do was to make small homages to my old heroes. There are some fills sounding a bit like old ENTOMBED, some parts are a bit like Ventor's old skin-pounding for KREATOR, there's also some BATHORY stuff there, some Dave Lombardo-style SLAYER ride playing and a ton of big fills! Well, I could go on, haha!

"Anyway, to achieve this organic feel and to push myself, I actually did not check out or practice any of the songs before recording. I just went into studio mode and took some notes and wrote lead sheets of the parts then I started to record. Why, again you might ask yourself? Well, because I wanted all the parts to sound very spontaneous. All fills for example are improvised on the spot, which was much more fun for me (and more risky, haha!)

"What more? I also used a small five-piece kit, instead of my big Sonor kit. I only used two crashes, a ride, china and hi-hats. Even though I am a total cymbal junkie and really love to have three toms and double floor toms, I took this decision so I would not fall into the trap of using splashes and dinga-dong-bongos-kitchen sinks or whatever. I just wanted to be creative with a minumum of equipment. Personally I think it worked out really good and I had a blast recording these tracks."
