BEAK Recording Full-Length Debut

BEAK, the Chicago-based post-metal quartet who made a splash with the 2012 EP release "Eyrie", is currently in the studio working on its debut full-length.

"The forthcoming record is a contemplation on beginnings and the struggle for life," explained vocalist Jon Slusher. "As a follow-up to 'Eyrie', if in record time was the end of all things, then the new album deals with creation after the destruction, the cycle of life." The band has reunited with engineer Neil Strauch and is recording at Steve Albini's Electrical Audio. The CD is due this fall.

"Eyrie" was an unexpected surprise from a relatively unknown band with review after review noting what a surprising and worthwhile find the five-track release was. Spin said "Chicago post-metal party crashers have songwriting acumen and hardcore bent that... NEUR-ISIS copycats sorely lack," About Heavy Metal added "I have no doubt that BEAK will become a force to be reckoned with" and Stereokiller offered "'Eyrie' is more than a pleasant surprise. It's one of the better EPs I've heard in sometime. It being an EP is really the only somewhat negative thing I can say. I want more, 5 tracks isn't enough."

BEAK will play a hometown show on February 23 at Beat Kitchen where it will perform songs from "Eyrie" as well as offer a preview of what's to come on the new album.
