Bassist JOEY VERA Says ANTHRAX's NY Gig Was One Of His Most Memorable Concert Experiences

October 8, 2004

Bassist Joey Vera (FATES WARNING, ARMORED SAINT, ANTHRAX) has posted the following message on his web site:

"Spring forward, Fall down. (That was me last night after a few too many bevies.)

"I can see the leaves starting to turn out here in the Northeast of the U.S. and I doubt very much I'd see much of that at home in L.A. I'm out on tour with ANTHRAX which started in Albany, New York where the leaves are already changing color. Another year coming to a close. Damm, that was fast!

"We're out here with DIO and FIREBALL MINISTRY and after a week now we're making our way through some of the Midwest, Cleveland - Chicago - Milwaukee - Detroit, all coming up. Then we head down South and end up in Florida where we jump off the tour. So far, the shows are going great. As always, Ronnie sounds amazing and [is] playing some amazing tunes. 'The Gates of Babylon' is god-like! Thank you, Ronnie, for putting that in the set.

"The New York show was a blast. Chuck D from PUBLIC ENEMY came out onstage and did 'Bring the Noise' with us. As soon as he walked out on stage the whole place elevated as if a giant hand came down and lifted the stage up another 100 feet in the air. The people in the balcony were suddenly in the front row. Definitely one of the most memorable gigs in my life. Scott and Charlie had been with Chuck and Flava during the day as they are performing with PUBLIC ENEMY at the VH1 'Hip Hop Honors' airing on Tuesday, October 12 of course jamming on 'Bring the Noise'. Chuck came out to return the favor and hung out for a few afterwards. He's so humble and down to earth, just a really cool guy.

"The new ANTHRAX record 'The Greater of Two Evils' is now done and coming out next month. I've heard a few of the mixes and it sounds killer. After we come home from this tour we'll stay home until the end of the year but will likely do some dates sometime in the new year. Keep and eyeball out on the THRAX site www.anthrax.com for details. Also, for those in the S. California area, look for details for a few local area shows we're supposed to do with DIO. House of Blues Anaheim, a San Francisco show and the Greek Theatre at the end of the month. Come out for the Metal!

"The new FATES WARNING record is now out titled 'FWX'. It's the band's tenth record which explains the title. Get it? FWX as in the roman numeral? Anyway, check it out as this record is full of heavy melodies and is sort of a melodic continuation of their last record, 'Disconnected', at least in my humble opinion.

"This is it for now and I'll keep you posted on the events that get confirmed for the new year which should be soon. Until then, Metal!"
