AXL ROSE Finally Delivers Certified Autograph For TOPPS

July 14, 2014

The Topps baseball-card publisher has revealed via Twitter that GUNS N' ROSES frontman Axl Rose finally signed his trading card as part of the 2013 Topps Archives Heavy Metal series — an autographed parallel printed on metal — a year after it was issued via a redemption.

"#BOOM! Look who signed. @axlrose," Topps tweeted. "Heavy Metal autos will ship soon. More info to come on other autos."

The August 2011 issue of Revolver magazine contained limited-edition baseball cards of the "Big Four" bands of thrash metal — METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX — who played the historic first metal show ever at Yankee Stadium on September 14, 2011. The cards were modeled after the classic Topps baseball cards from 1986, the same year these four bands released their metal masterpieces.

Axl hinted in a rare new interview with Revolver magazine that a follow-up to GUNS N' ROSES' 2008 album "Chinese Democracy" could be in the works. Rose explained, "We recorded a lot of things before 'Chinese' was out. We've worked more on some of those things and we've written a few new things. But basically, we have what I call kind of the second half of 'Chinese'. That's already recorded. And then we have a remix album made of the songs from 'Chinese'. That's been done for a while, too."
