AUDIOSLAVE Guitarist Says Musicians Are Relflecting Others' Feelings For BUSH

November 1, 2004

Launch Radio Networks is reporting that many musicians have felt the need to involve themselves in this year's presidential election campaign, and they're overwhelmingly in support of Democratic candidate John Kerry. Some people have criticized the active role of entertainers in the campaign, but AUDIOSLAVE guitarist Tom Morello — who cofounded the Axis Of Justice political awareness organization — said he thinks they're really expressing the thoughts of many Americans. "It's not just musicians, but it's millions of Americans that are really pissed off at the Bush administration and the domestic policies of rolling back civil liberties, the growing gulf between rich and poor, and egregious foreign policy of conducting a war based on lies and deceits to benefit billionaires, bankers, and oil barons," he told Launch.

Morello is one of the performers on "Axis Of Justice Concert Series Volume 1", which comes out tomorrow (Tuesday, Nov. 2). Others on the album include Axis Of Justice cofounder Serj Tankian of SYSTEM OF A DOWN, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS bassist Flea, TOOL/A PERFECT CIRCLE frontman Maynard James Keenan, and other members of AUDIOSLAVE.
