TABLOID CONFUSES GLENN HUGHES WITH DECEASED VILLAGE PEOPLE MEMBER

...

LOS ANGELES – Rocker Glenn Hughes and his wife were shocked and a bit bemused when friends and associates began calling their home after word got out that the singer's mug was mistakenly placed along that of the recently-deceased VILLAGE PEOPLE member of the same name in the April 3 issue of The Star.

...

The tabloid ran a recent photo of Hughes alongside an old black and white shot of the VILLAGE PEOPLE's Biker persona in an announcement of the early March death of VILLAGE PEOPLE's Hughes.

...

“Whilst I'm sorry to hear about the passing of the other Glenn Hughes, I'd like to let everyone know that I am very much alive and well,” said Hughes.

HELLION vocalist Ann Boleyn has completed work on her new solo CD, which, according to the singer, is “the best thing I have ever done!” However, HELLION fans will have to wait a little bit longer for the album's release, as Ann has decided to hold off on issuing it until she has secured new management.

More information has surfaced on the WURDULAK project, which features members of IMMORTAL and MAYHEM, among others. According to mainman Frediablo, “WURDULAK is a band consisting of Frediablo (GORELORD),Killjoy (NECROPHAGIA),Fug (SOUL FORSAKEN),Iscariah (IMMORTAL),Jehmod (BLOODTHORN),Ihizahg (PERISHED) and Maniac (MAYHEM). Primitive and hideous old school heavy/black metal was what Frediablo, Fug and Ihizahg had in mind when they wrote the music for this project, which was originally founded by Killjoy &amp Frediablo. Involving Jehmod, Iscariah &amp Maniac was only natural, as they were not only very good friends, but also brilliant musicians. From WURDULAK you an expect nine tracks of pure old school metal, with vocals as hideous as only Killjoy &amp Maniac can produce. No release date has yet been set.”

METALLICA have complained to the U.S. District Court in San Francisco that Napster has failed to block access to its music as ordered under the court's injunction, the band's lawyer said on Wednesday. METALLICA's brief said Napster has refused to take any meaningful technological steps to bar its users from swapping the band's songs, according to Howard King, the lawyer for METALLICA. The band filed the brief on Tuesday, as a recording industry trade group raised the same issues in papers filed with the same court.

KISS' Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley will be guests on the ABC's Rage (Australia's MTV, as some refer to it) program on Saturday night. More details can be found at http://www.abc.net.au/rage/rage.htm.

...

In other KISS news, Gene Simmons' pre-WICKED LESTER, pre-KISS recordings are being auctioned on Ebay, to be handed over to the highest bidder at the end of their 10-day listing. Credited simply to G. Klein, this 10' acetate, pressed by Richcraft Recording Company, was won in the Butterfield's KISS auction last year. It is featured on page 11 of KISStory, though the details that they attribute it are apparently incorrect. Made around 1969-71, one side of the acetate has the famed 'Stanley The Parrot', which had parts of its structure used in the later KISS classic 'Strutter', while the second side (not mentioned in KISStory) has the piano-ballad 'Leeta', which “would make Paul McCartney proud”. Both of these songs are the very earliest recorded Gene Simmons material currently available and show a very different side of him than the stage persona he would later develop in KISS.

KARMA TO BURN has signed to Spitfire Records and are currently hard at work on material for their forthcoming studio album, to be released during the summer.

DRAGONLORD's Rapture, the debut CD from the side project of TESTAMENT guitarist Eric Peterson, is scheduled to be released during the summer. According to a Spitfire Records press release, “DRAGONLORD monolithically embraces classical and goth, while simultaneously dealing out some deathened blackness to provide controlled melodic insanity.” Featuring Peterson on guitars/vocals, Jon Allen (SADUS / TESTAMENT) on drums, Lyle Livingston (PSYPHERIA) on keyboards, Steve Smyth (VICIOUS RUMORS) on lead guitar, and Steve DiGiorgio (SADUS / TESTAMENT / DEATH / ICED EARTH) on fretless bass, 'DRAGONLORD was an idea I had floating around at about the time TESTAMENT was getting ready to record The Gathering‚ in mid 98,' says Peterson. 'I was playing some stuff for (drummer) Dave Lombardo and he was like, 'Hey, dude, that's you singing? You should do a project! He kinda sparked the idea for me again. I wanted to do something more goth-mixed with classical influences, more Euro-sounding type stuff. I didn't want to lay that down on TESTAMENT since we got our knack back, so I decided to form DRAGONLORD. Now that the songs are born and I'm hearing them, they are exactly the way I pictured them! Beautifully eerie!'

Song titles set to appear on Rapture include:

...

01. Spirits In The Mist

02. Rapture

03. Wolfhunt

04. Born To Darkness

05. Tradition And Fire
