Former YNGWIE MALMSTEEN vocalist Jeff Scott Soto has confirmed that he will, in fact, be stepping in as the lead vocalist on the remainder of Yngwie's US tour following the well-publicized altercation that caused former singer Jorn Lande (i.e. ARK, MILLENIUM, VAGABOND) to quit the band prior to the group's performance in Cleveland, Ohio on Sunday, April 8th. According to Soto, 'YES, I am finishing Yngwie's US tour, which resumes this Tues. (April 17th) in St. Louis. Yngwie had 'a little' falling out with the guy that was on the last tour [Jorn] &amp asked me if I could come in. I'll be finishing off the duration.'

...

Meanwhile, it appears that Jeff may not have been the only former vocalist Yngwie contacted in the hours and days following the aforementioned incident in Cleveland. According to Mark Boals' official web site, Boals received a call from Yngwie at 4:30 AM on Tuesday, April 10th, with the guitarist offering the frontman position to Mark for the remainder of the tour. No details were apparently discussed and no negotiations took place during the initial call, although the business formalities were more than likely addressed during the subsequent phone calls between the guitarist's and the singer's respective managers.

Apparently, some of the new material has been recorded almost completely, while some of it is still in the early recording stages. The sound of the new tracks is being described as 'close to Powerplant as far as heaviness, power and intensity go, but with a warmer atmosphere and a fair amount of more feel in it — like the strongest elements of the last three studio albums' combined.
