ARCH ENEMY Drummer: 'The Metal Crusade Continues'

November 30, 2005

ARCH ENEMY drummer Daniel Erlandsson has posted the following U.S tour report on the band's official web site:

"Finally it's the drummer's turn to update the diary! It's been quite a while since I posted anything here — I hope you haven't missed me too much!

"We are as you probably suspected on the road, last night we played the Irving Plaza, New York and had a great response from the crowd, an abundance of headbanging and moshing...truly an intense metal show!

"It's been a while since we played the Big Apple so we had a really good time coming back... Caught a bit of ALL THAT REMAINS' set and they pulled off a great show too, good work! This show was the last in the U.S. on this run of dates, we've got 2 shows left in Canada and if we get over the border (!) I'm pretty sure they're going to be very intense, looking forward to that — we've always had a blast in Canada!

"Last time we played Quebec we were opening up for IRON MAIDEN — so if 10% of the people that saw us at that show come on down, we are in good shape, ha-ha!

"We've had a couple of awesome shows the last couple of days including Jaxx in Springfield, VA and The Palladium in Worcester, MA...Thanks to all the people who showed up at the shows and an extra thank you to those hanging around patiently outside the bus — you all rule!!!

"In other news, we've started working on some new material in the confinements of the tour bus... It doesn't take much equipment to record ideas these days! It's at an earlier stage than embryonic right now, but to me it sounds like some really cool stuff — more on that later!

"The headline set we're doing on this tour is probably our most extensive to date, and of course that includes solos as well as other extras... Even though that might seem over the top to some (non-metal people),it has added some dynamics to the performance, and those parts of the show always goes down well!

"So, thanks to all the U.S metal fans that came out to the shows this time!

"Also thanks to A PERFECT MURDER, MNEMIC and ALL THAT REMAINS — it's great having you all along for the tour!

"Next up after Canada is 9 shows in Europe (including 5 shows in the U.K)…this has been a long tour — We started in Europe a couple of months ago, and before that there was the Ozzfest. I can't remember what it's like sleeping in my own bed! We'll be back home for the holidays, but for now — the metal crusade continues!"

As previously reported, ARCH ENEMY have recruited Fredrik Åkesson as a replacement for Chris Amott (guitar) for the continued "Doomsday Machine" touring campaign. Åkesson has lent his awesome guitar talent to such varied artists such as TALISMAN, JOHN NORUM, KRUX, TIAMAT and his own (now defunct) group, SOUTHPAW.

ARCH ENEMY's latest album, "Doomsday Machine", entered the official German Top 100 chart at position No. 34. The CD was co-produced by the band and Rickard Bengtsson at Slaughterhouse Studio in Sweden and was mixed by Andy Sneap at Backstage Studios in Derbyshire, U.K.
