ARCH ENEMY Drummer Reports On P3 GULD Awards Show

January 22, 2008

ARCH ENEMY drummer Daniel Erlandsson has offered the following report from the P3 Guld awards show:

"As you might have heard or seen, ARCH ENEMY won the award for Best Rock/Metal at P3 Guld. To those of you who are not too familiar with the Swedish lingo: P3 is a nationwide Swedish radio station, and P3 Guld is the event they have set up in order to honor the most prominent domestic artists during the year. The winner in our category is chosen by a jury. The award show was broadcast live on radio, and was also aired on national television the same night... The award show can be viewed online here (in Swedish).

"Myself and Christopher [Amott, guitar] joined the Swedish Century Media rep Jenny Walroth to attend the award show which was held in Gothenburg. We thought about preparing some kind of formal thank you speech, just in case, but came to the conclusion that we most likely wouldn't win anyway! Not very smart...this explains our somewhat gob-smacked appearance when we were announced winners. After the show was done we all went back to the hotel where the festivities went on 'til late. Many Swedish 'celebrities' were gathered, and I guess that's a definition that now also fits us...well maybe not, he-he! All in all it was a great experience, and we owe a great THANK YOU to all the members of the jury who voted for ARCH ENEMY!"

P3 Guld nominees in the "Best Rock/Metal Album of the Year" category were as follows:

ARCH ENEMY - "Rise of the Tyrant"
DARK TRANQUILLITY - "Fiction"
KONGH - "Counting Heartbeats"
MARDUK - "Rom 5:12"
MUSTASCH - "Latest Version of the Truth"

ARCH ENEMY's video for the song "Revolution Begins" can be viewed below. The clip was shot in early September just days before ARCH ENEMY flew to North America to begin the Black Tyranny tour (with MACHINE HEAD, THROWDOWN and SANCTITY). To promote their new album, "Rise of the Tyrant", the band shot two videos in Gothenburg, Sweden with director Patric Ullaeus (IN FLAMES, LACUNA COIL).
