ANTHRAX Guitarist Comments On Passing Of RAMONES Legend

September 16, 2004

ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian has commented on the passing of Johnny Ramone, guitarist and co-founder of the seminal punk band THE RAMONES. Writing to the ANTHRAX's official web site, Ian said, "The world is a lesser place with the passing of Johnny Ramone. My heart goes out to his wife Linda and to all the family, friends and fans around the world who share in the love for this giant among men. I will always treasure my time with Johnny. Meeting and becoming friends with the man responsible for my guitar playing was a dream come true. We'll miss you Johnny."

Ramone, who had been fighting a five-year battle with prostate cancer, died in his sleep Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 15) at his Los Angeles home surrounded by friends and family. He was 55.
