'1982 – 2007: 25 Ans Métal Québécois': More Festival Details Revealed

DEAD BRAIN CELLS (D.B.C.),SOOTHSAYER and OBLIVEON are among the bands that will reunite for "1982 – 2007: 25 ans Métal Québécois", a three-day festival celebrating 25 years of Quebec metal, set to take place August 31 - September 2, 2007 at Club Soda in Montreal. A total of 12 bands will perform, with eight of the 12 groups reuniting specifically for the festival. The billing is shaping up as follows:

Friday, August 31 (artists from 1990s):

OBLIVEON (10:55 - Midnight)
NECROTIC MUTATION (9:45 - 10:35)
DEMENCE (8:25 - 9:10)
AGONY (7:30 - 8:05)
Plus Air Guitar Competition (9:15 - 9:40)

Saturday, September 1 (artists from 1980s):

D.B.C. (11:10 - Midnight)
SOOTHSAYER (10:00 - 10:50)
DAMNATION (8:25 - 9:10)
THE AFFECTED (7:30 - 8:05)
Plus induction of VOIVOD's Piggy into the Quebec Metal Hall of Fame (9:15 - 9:55)

Sunday, September 2 (artists from 2007):

NEGATIVA (10:35 - 11:30)
BRIEF RESPITE (9:25 - 10:15)
EMPATHY DENIED (8:25 - 9:05)
DESCEND INTO NOTHINGNESS (7:30 - 8:05)

VOIVOD members Michel "Away" Langevin, Denis "Snake" Belanger and the family of the group's late guitarist Denis "Piggy"D'Amour, as well as the band's former bassist Jean-Yves Theriault (a.k.a. Blacky),will be present at Club Soda in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on Saturday, September 1 for Piggy's induction into the Quebec Metal Hall of Fame. The tribute/induction will be presented in three parts:

1) Video produced by Syl Disjonk.

2) A few people, including Snake, will speak about Denis.

3) Musical medley arranged and performed by Blacky and guitarist Dan Mongrain (MARTYR). The medley will consist of excerpts from VOIVOD's five albums released during the '80s.

D'Amour died August 26, 2005 in a Montreal hospital from complications of advanced colon cancer.
