March 20, 2009

The Washington, D.C.-based progressive instrumental group ANIMALS AS
LEADERS
, which features the seven- and eight-string guitar wizardy of former
REFLUX guitarist Tosin Abasi, has revealed the cover art of its self-titled debut, due on April 28 via Prosthetic Records.

The track listing for the CD is as follows:

01. Tempting Time
02. Soraya
03. Thoroughly At Home
04. On Impulse
05. Tessitura
06. Behaving Badly
07. The Price of Everything and the Value of Nothing
08. CAFO
09. Inamorata
10. Point to Point
11. Modern Meat
12. Song Of Solomon

The song "Tempting Time" is currently streaming on the band's MySpace page.

"ANIMALS AS LEADERS is a guitar-driven, progressive instrumental project with ambient and electronic influences," Abasi explains. "I definitely wanted to make an album that was 'guitar-centric,' but also interesting from other perspectives.
"'Tempting Time' loosely deals with some of the time-based societal pressures that come with getting older," he continues. "It's about reconciling your place in your life with where society feels like you should be, and understanding the finite amount of time you have in life to do anything."

ANIMALS AS LEADERS will perform at the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival on April 18. Additional tour dates will follow.
