ANGRA Bassist Apologizes For RHAPSODY Slam

August 14, 2003

ANGRA bassist Felipe Andreoli has issued a statement apologizing for his recent comments about Italian melodic metallers RHAPSODY in the pages of the Brazilian magazine Cover Baixo. In the interview, Andreoli and SHAMAN bassist Luis Mariutti implied that RHAPSODY were nothing more than a studio band and accused the Italian act of relying on producer Sascha Paeth to write and arrange all of their music, an allegation that RHAPSODY have vehemently denied.

In a statement posted on RHAPSODY's official web site, Andreoli writes, "I'd like to say something about that interview in the Brazilian magazine Cover Baixo, where Luis Mariutti and I mentioned the Italian band RHAPSODY. What is written in the interview is in fact what was said that day. The subject came up in a natural way, and it was never our intention to defame the musicians from RHAPSODY. If said things are true or not, I don't know. I just said that there is a rumor about it, and I've heard about it many times.

"The truth is that this is RHAPSODY's business, and it's not up to me to judge anyone. As I said before, I don't know the truth about it. I would feel extremely offended if someone said those things about me, just because I know it's not true, and I can completely understand how the band and the fans feel about it. Therefore, all I can do is apologize sincerely to RHAPSODY and its fans, and also to the music fans in general, for giving such a bad example."
