ANATHEMA To Perform On Spanish National Television

May 10, 2004

ANATHEMA have been confirmed to play a 30-minute live show on Los Conciertos de Radio 3, the "main and most intelligent show devoted to live music" on Spanish national television. Filming for the show will take place the morning before the group's gig in Copérnico on June 2 at the TVE studios. "We and our agent in Spain are very pleased about this because it is very difficult to get bands appearing on national TV," the band write on their web site. "ANATHEMA are probably the very first band of their league to ever appear on TVE!"

In other news, ANATHEMA will be giving a special acoustic concert at the FNAC record store in Barcelona on June 3. This performance will take place before the band's gig at Razzamataz 2 that evening.

Also on the ANATHEMA-related front, guitarist Danny Cavanagh joined Celtic acoustic band LEAFBLADE for their first two live shows in Holland and Belgium last weekend. "The shows were a great success for the lads and they want to thank the ANATHEMA fans who turned up to have a listen," reads a post on ANATHEMA's web site. "Their music is quite different from ANATHEMA with Celtic influences, lots of harmonies, dreamy and haunting melodic vocals." The band, who were formed around "longtime good friend of ANATHEMA" Sean Rooney "will have a website up and running soon and we'll link them for those who are interested, they are well recommended."

As previously reported, ANATHEMA have set a June 28 release date through Music For Nations for their upcoming DVD, entitled "Were You There?". The disc, which was recorded on January 31 at the "Krzemionki" TV studio in Cracow, Poland, will feature over an hour of live performance as well as backstage antics and tour diaries recorded by the band throughout their recent tours.
