AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE Guitarist's Girlfriend Lands Major-Label Deal; Jams With CANTRELL, NAVARRO

October 21, 2005

Rockdetector.com is reporting that "Rock Star: INXS" finalist Jordis Unga, girlfriend of AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE guitarist Karma Cheema and former LIARS CLUB singer, has apparently, after much speculation, signed to Epic Records. An album is expected in March 2006. Word is also out that he fast rising star is also, as rumored, recording with the highly impressive "house band" led by CHER and NELSON keyboard player Paul Mirkovich. The group also includes lead guitarist Rafael Moreira from PINK's live band, rhythm guitarist Jim McGorman, drummer Nate Morton and Russian bassist Sasha Krivstov from DEF LEPPARD guitarist Vivian Campbell's side act CLOCK.

Dreadlocked diva Jordis Unga caused an international sensation with her appearances on the "Rock Star: INXS" reality show. Her renditions of THE WHO's "Baba O'Riley", DAVID BOWIE's "Man Who Sold The World" and JOHN LENNON's "Imagine" pulled all the show headlines in her direction and generated fervored fan support from many industry insiders and big names such as show co-host Dave Navarro and cult film maker Quentin Tarantino. Unga's "Rock Star" downloads shot her to No. 1 in the MSN charts, an unprecedented feat for an unsigned artist.

Dave Navarro is staying true to the cause too, inviting Jordis up to sing a rendition of BAD COMPANY's seminal "Feel Like Makin' Love" at the CAMP FREDDY"Iconoclasts" Sundance Channel launch party gig alongside Jerry Cantrell on Wednesday (Oct. 19) in Santa Monica, CA. Could both Navarro and Cantrell be making appearance's on the Jordis debut? This is now the second time Unga has performed with them.
