AIRBOURNE Pulls Out Of MOTÖRHEAD Tour

September 4, 2008

Australian hard rockers AIRBOURNE have cancelled their participation in the upcoming U.S. tour featuring MOTÖRHEAD, MISFITS, VALIENT THORR and YEAR LONG DISASTER. The band says, "After 200+ shows this year, Joel's [O'Keefe, AIRBOURNE lead singer/guitarist] suffering from strained vocal cords and is being forced under doctor's orders to cancel the current USA dates with MOTÖRHEAD. All that is needed is a couple of weeks rest and then the band will be back on the road in Japan this October, and then taking on a Europe tour for the third time in ten months. The band is gutted that they can not play these shows with MOTÖRHEAD and hope to see you all at a show soon."

Nikki Blakk of San Francisco's 107.7 The Bone radio station conducted an interview with Joel O'Keeffe on July 12, 2008 at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California (where the band was performing as part of the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival). Watch the eight-minute chat below.

AIRBOURNE's new video for the song "Runnin' Wild" — featuring a special cameo by MOTÖRHEAD mainman Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister — was shot with director Nathan Cox, who has previously worked with QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, MARILYN MANSON and LINKIN PARK, among others. The track is the title cut of the group's new album, which landed at No. 106 on The Billboard 200 chart in the U.S. after shifting 7,000 units in its first week of release. The CD has sold 54,000 copies in the United States so far, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
