AGNOSTIC FRONT: 'My Life, My Way' Track-By-Track Breakdown - Part 3

March 22, 2011

New York hardcore legends AGNOSTIC FRONT have just released their latest album, "My Life, My Way", in North America. Frontman Roger Miret recently took some time to reflect on the upcoming release and outlined each song track by track. Today will be the third and final installment of this series as Roger speaks about the last five songs on the album.

* "The Sacrifice"

Miret: "This one goes out to the people who sacrificed their lives one way or another to make this a better place for us to live in today. Never forgetting about the ones who made a difference. We won't forget! "

* "A Mi Manera"

Miret: "This is our title track to the Latin Hardcore scene! I'm Hispanic and I wanted to give back some respect to my peeps living and overcoming oppression!"

* "Your Worst Enemy"

Miret: "Self-destruction is what sums up the meaning of this song. Making the wrong decisions and blaming them on everyone else. You choose your own destiny. Don't become your own worst enemy!"

* "Empty Dreams"

Miret: "Everyone in life has been disappointed at one time or another. We speak here about putting your everything into something you believe in and watching it fall apart! Something hard to grasp at times."

* "Time Has Come"

Miret: "Ending this record we discuss overcoming the all obstacles and hard times life throws at us. Never letting anything get in our way of how we live our lives. Our time has come! Our tribute to One Voice!"

"My Life My Way" was recorded at Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida. The effort features 13 new powerful and anthemic songs laid down by Erik Rutan (MADBALL, GOATWHORE, CANNIBAL CORPSE, etc.) under the watchful guide of producer Freddy Cricien of MADBALL. The record was mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music (SEPULTURA, SUFFOCATION, UNEARTH) in New Windsor, New York.

The "My Life My Way" cover artwork was brought to life this time by artist Todd Hubber, who also works with vocalist Roger Miret on designing his street wear clothing line American Made Kustom.

"The concept was to capture the D.I.Y. ethic and crude themed artistry of the early punk flyers, with a nod to the era of crime and pulp comic themes of the early '50s," says Hubber. "Society deemed those materials as having no social redeeming values, and as a contributor to youth delinquency. Similarly outcasted were punk and hardcore in the early day for its aggressive, anti-authority message, and dangerous aura.

"'My Life My Way' is a throwback to the early days, and AGNOSTIC FRONT has proven that what society deems unredeeming, has been, still is, and will continue to be relevant."

Commented Roger Miret: "After all is said and done, we are amazed on how great our new record turned out! It's by far our catchiest record to date and it's going to make everyone want to sing along for sure. Freddy killed it on the production end, just capturing that hardcore vibe that only he can get out of AGNOSTIC FRONT. The boys all put nothing but passion into the songs, and Erik Rutan just dialed it all in to make AGNOSTIC FRONT sound as natural and as organic as ever. This one will definitely be a classic once it's heard worldwide!"
