AC/DC's Strange Connection To ASHLEY MADISON Hack

August 25, 2015

According to Billboard.com, AC/DC's classic song "Thunderstruck" was soundtrack of choice for the online criminals responsible for the Ashley Madison hack.

Toronto police told the press on Monday morning that the breach of Ashley Madison's security came to light on July 12 when an employee of Avid Life Media, the company that owns the the dating-by-way-of-infidelity web site, logged in to their work PC, and was greeted with a message from the hackers at Impact Team. The memo revealed that the business's systems had been compromised, and also played "Thunderstruck".

Journalists attending yesterday's press conference were left perplexed when documents handed out as they arrived included a print-out of the lyrics to AC/DC's hit song.

Ashley Madison, whose slogan is "Life is short, have an affair," has been described as "Tinder for cheaters," and the leak has compromised the privacy of over 33 million accounts and allegedly led to two suicides.

Avid Life Media offered a $500,000 reward to anyone providing information leading to the prosecution of the hackers behind the invasion.

"Thunderstruck" was the lead single on AC/DC's 1990 album "The Razor's Edge".
