AC/DC's BRIAN JOHNSON Hosting 'The Producers' Series On PLANET ROCK

July 13, 2016

Rock and roll royalty Brian Johnson is hosting a brand new five-part series, "The Producers", on the U.K. digital radio station Planet Rock.

The weekly show sees Brian exploring the lives of some of the world's most renowned rock producers, including QUEEN's Roy Thomas Baker, METALLICA's Bob Rock and FOO FIGHTERS' Nick Rasculiecz. Listeners can expect exclusive insight from the men who have mixed their magic to bring rock's biggest albums to life, from the tracks they love to the anecdotes from their time sharing the studio with the bands they've worked so closely with.

Having recorded some of the most globally successful rock albums of all-time alongside the world's greatest sound-men, Brian was the perfect choice to present "The Producers" for Planet Rock.

Ric Blaxill, content director of Planet Rock, said: "The quality of rock producers that we interviewed required a series host with rock credibility and an in-depth understanding of how producers work with bands to create a distinct sound.

"Brian is without doubt the perfect person to host the series with his incredible experience as a musician and as one of rock's most distinctive vocalists ever.

"We are very honoured to have Brian joining Planet Rock for this landmark series."

Johnson commented: "Having been fortunate to work alongside some of the best producers in rock, it's great to be part of this show with Planet Rock.

"To be able to shine a light on how a producer captures a moment in the studio and turns it into rock and roll dynamite is the dog's bollocks.

"Being able to listen to these guys talk about what they do best is a joy.

"Planet Rock is the authority for all things rock so, where else would one want to be for this kinda show?'

The first episode of the five-part series aired on Sunday, July 3, with Brian delving into the life of Bob Rock.

AC/DC postponed the last ten dates of its recent North American tour after doctors told Johnson he faced a total loss of hearing if he did not stop touring immediately. AC/DC has since resumed its tour with GUNS N' ROSES singer Axl Rose as a "guest vocalist," with Johnson apparently not returning to the group.

Johnson said in an open letter to fans that he intends to solve his hearing problem and continue recording and touring, although he did not say whether he would be rejoining AC/DC.

The vocalist wrote: "My entire focus is to continue medical treatment to improve my hearing. I am hoping that in time my hearing will improve and allow me to return to live concert performances. While the outcome is uncertain, my attitude is optimistic."

Johnson had been AC/DC's frontman for 36 years, making his debut on the classic "Back In Black" album.
