DOKKEN: LYNCH Will Go Down In History As Once Being A Great Guitarist, But His Day Is Over - Oct. 28, 2012
In a brand new interview with the Melodic Rock fanzine, DOKKEN mainman Don Dokken was asked about the possibility of a reunion of the band's classic lineup, "I would love to do one more DOKKEN record some day with the original members," he said.

"Jeff [Pilson, bass], Mick [Brown, drums] and I get along great, but George [Lynch, guitar] continues to talk negative about me. I have no desire to play with someone that is emotionally unstable and full of hate."

He added, "Jon [Levin, current DOKKEN guitarist] and I are best friends and we both understand the DOKKEN sound. George always wanted to change it.

"George continues to say he believes that I was the weakest member of the band. He forgot who wrote a large part of our music and hits.

"Narcissism is a disease of the mind, and I think it's too late for him to change and find spiritual peace in this lifetime.

"The band is called DOKKEN, not LYNCH.

"Jon Levin was always a fan of George's playing. He has always spoken of him with respect, because Jon has class.

"You can listen to [the new DOKKEN album] 'Broken Bones', T&N, and LYNCH MOB and let the fans make their own decision.

"George will go down in history as once being a great guitarist, but his day is over."

Regarding "Broken Bones", Don said, "The CD title is about everybody that has had troubles in there life, love, health, lost love, heartbreak, death — nobody goes through life without a few broken bones, metaphorically. Most of us learn from our past mistakes, but some people do not, what does not kill you makes you stronger. The pain in our lives inspires us to make music, and the happiness as well inspires to write. We are all damaged."

I guaranfuckingtee Mr. Lynch inspired more people to pick up the guitar than Donnie ever inspired people to sing. And he's still fucking ripping it up.

I've never read an interview where George Lynch sounded like a total jerk. In this one snippet Donnie Dokken sounds like a total tool. I seriously doubt he wrote the riffs George played.

I say...
You can't judge someone, casting him aside, with a negative comment like that and then call him a narcissist. You big, fat, hypocritical, narcissistic prick!

Your vocals aren't that great Mr. Dokken. Even during your prime. It's weak. I bet people listen to Dokken records mainly because of Lynch's guitar playing and not your singing.

I got into Dokken back in the 80s because of the entire package which includes both George's guitar playing and Don's singing.

Oh here we go. First off I dont know where Don gets off even going there when he cant sing worth a damn anymore. I saw him open up for Y+T a few years back and to say it was horrible is an understatement. He was a slobbering drunk on stage out of tune voice crackin... a true mess.

George Lynch rips always has always will.

I think Donnie needs to look at is alcohol induced fat face and realize that his day is over.

George Lynch is a phenomenal guitar player who takes care of himself. I think Lynch is a better guitarist now than he was back then.

Everything I've heard of Don's sounds horrible.

T&N should just look for a dude who can sing just like Donnie back in the 80's, on You Tube just like Journey did, and do the old Dokken shit.

Fuck you, Don Dokken! You gelatinous, sycophantic parasite!

Actually just heard the T&A album and they DO have someone who can at least somewhat sing like old Don Dokken... Jeff Pilson! Not surprising since he sang harmonies\backup for the original Dokken. His voice sounds similar to Don's... though his voice is a 1/2 octave lower in range, but still sounds pretty good.

why doesn't the music lynch does outside of dokken sound anything like it? when they last worked together don gave in and let him have his way and we got 2 of the worst dokken records ever in shodow life and dsyfunctional. face it despite what they say in public whenever they get close to announcing a reunion they hate each other and always have. but make no mistake they will do the reunion eventually when and if they get the right amount of money offered.

Is Don is talking out his ass in this, the interviewer must have just caught him in a raunchy mood. Overall this is a classic battle of rock cock ego...singer being overshadowed but hot shot guitarist , singer getting butt hurt by the attention the guitarist is getting. Tensions rise due to unchecked development of lead singers disease, guitarist talks shit about singer, vise versa...sound familiar.

Maybe the I'd love to do another original member record and the neg remarks are somewhat of a ploy to keep fanning the fire of interest for all parties involved. They've all admitted their publicist in the 80's used the Lynch/Dokken chemistry to hype the band, especially since they were never really a true glam rock band. Broken bones is a great album. Lynch Mob with ONI is awesome. George plays his ass off on the "Legacy" instrumental ep. George is doing a record with D Pinnick and Ray Luzier. I highly doubt all the super talented people Lynch has worked with these past few years would have had Lynch couldn't deliver. He is a completely different player than 1988 and this is a good thing! Dokken can't change his sound so Levin plays much like vintage Lynch with great chops. I'm glad they are separate,.. More music for me!!!! As far as signings go I have never seen Lynch be a dick to anyone, and I've been to many. He signs anything you want, Dokken Lp's, T-shirts and even my vintage Back for the attack wallet (no money in it for I have none) etc. I don't really care if either of these dudes are "nice guys", who gives a fuck.

Uh, Don is a fuxking joke of a human being. How he has remained relevant is a fucking mystery to me. He's a mediocre singer at best.... and has an ego as if he were good.

Lynch is an awesome talent and should wash his hands of this Doken bullshit, they weren't that great anyways...

After Don and George's appearance on That Metal Show I thought it they had squashed everything. Maybe they did and things fell apart BUT I am inclined to believe this could all be to fan the flames of interest (as said above) in Dokken. Notice this stuff starts coming out right when Broken Bones is out and T&N is releasing as well.

Controversy creates cash.

If only one of these guys was a prick, the other would have given in and this band would have already reunited. Don is an ass, saw him chew out the sound guy at Rock the Bayou in Houston 2008 cause he did not like the mike volume. Complained the entire set. George is my favorite guitarist of that era. I even have screamin demon pickups on two of my guitars. So while I am a fan, I definitely recognize that he is one of the most conceded guys around. If you have seen the episode of THAT METAL SHOW on which he was interviewed with Pilson and Brown, you got a full taste of just how much he is all about George.

I'm kind of getting tired of these types of comments where people criticizr 50 year old people for not being able to sing like they were 20 any more. Singing isn't like guitar playing where as long as you keep your guitar tuned its going to sound the same forever. People get older and their voices change. Its just the way it is and there's really not all that much that can be done about it so give them a break.

Met him yrs ago at a after show signing session and was likely pissed I has a Dokken cd cover for him to sign. His masterpiece is Back For The Attack album and much to his displeasure, he'll never get over it or could care about it because Don sings on it; most likely he never listens to it and will never record anything close to it. Never cared to check him out again, but at
that show he had zero stage presence, like he didn't want to be there...so f him! Btw, I am into guitar players the most, this case is the exception, just hope Don and Schenker do a Rokken album close to BFTA...

guess most of you haven't listened to Broken Bones because it's a fucking fantastic record. Also, Don's "bashing" of George is in response to George's childish remarks and delusional mind. Also, I met George, too, and he was a prick to me, also. Many of you seem to not realize how awesome the chemistry between Don and Jon is - Jon is an incredible guitarist who's every bit as good as George WAS.
