UK's DOWNLOAD Named 'Top Festival' At BILLBOARD TOURING AWARDS - Nov. 15, 2007
The United Kingdom's Download festival in Castle Donington, England, produced by Live Nation U.K., was named top festival at the fourth annual Billboard Touring Awards, held tonight (November 15) at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York. Live Nation received the top promoter nod.

The Download festival is a three-day rock/metal/punk festival held annually at the spiritual home of rock music in England — Donington Park, which hosted the Monsters of Rock festivals between 1980 and 1996, and 2002's Ozzfest. It takes place in early summer, and is owned and managed by Live Nation.

This year's Download festival — which was headlined by IRON MAIDEN, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE and LINKIN PARK — was reportedly attended by 80,000 people.

What a joke!! Download should be named 'Biggest Rip Off' not best festival. Loads of European festivals do it so much better for half the price, and they even provide you with clean bogs!

Everything slightly rockin'>Download! Download rules if you
a- Like shopping
b- Like being herded around like cattle
c- Being (blatantly) ripped off...check out the riots on youtube after last years bash!!
d- You wanna see one of your favourite bands....for 25mins!!!
It's particularly sad for the peeps, myself included, who yearn for the monsters of rock to return.....BIG field...BIG stage...entertain yourselves between bands...and we did!!!!Good days!!!

ive always had a laugh at the Download festival, it sure aint any of the big European festivals but its a hell of a lot of fun. I got bored as fuck at Bloodstock last time I was there, sure the bands were good but between them it was pretty shitty,

Download is the only place you will see Metallica or Iron Maiden at a rock/metal festival. BOA is still too small to get bands bigger then the likes of Lacuna Coil or Arch Enemy.

Support it and it will grow.

Donnington is also holy ground

That said the rioting at Download is getting stupid. I had to put out a 6 foot fire that was lit right next to my tent while pricks through aerasol cans on it. Of course afterwards had 20 odd dickheads getting agressive because I didn't fancy 3rd degree burns.

I didn't go but would have voted for Damnation ahead of any of them. Download is a joke.

Download was damn good this year, however, it clearly is not the best festival in the world. That surely must go to Wacken which hopefully i shall go to this year.

The people at download are generally dicks but the bands are good which shall do me, plus seeing Maiden at Donington has made my life more complete.

Tell a lie, it would have been Hard Rock Hell, not Damnation though that looked OK.
