IRON MAIDEN Confirms Special CLIVE BURR Show - May 25, 2007
As a grand finale to their festival/stadium summer tour, IRON MAIDEN will perform a special one-off performance at London's Brixton Academy on Sunday, June 24 in aid of The Clive Burr MS Trust fund.

Brixton Academy holds just 4,800 and tickets for this intimate performance went on sale to members of the IRON MAIDEN fan club at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, May 25. The box office will open to the general public a week later on Friday, June 1.

This will be IRON MAIDEN's final U.K. appearance for at least a year, and will be the last time they will perform this year's special set list of songs from their latest album "A Matter of Life and Death" and the LP "The Number of the Beast". The show will be the last chance to see the spectacular stage production that the band have been performing with around the world, including Eddie and his tank up close for the last time. Special guests will be LAUREN HARRIS and eight-piece Indian rock act PARIKRAMA, who came to the band's attention when they supported MAIDEN in Bangalore in March, and will be the first time an Indian rock band has toured the U.K.

The Clive Burr MS Trust Fund was founded in 2001 when it was learnt that original IRON MAIDEN drummer Clive Burr, who performed on their first three albums, "Iron Maiden", "Killers" and "The Number of the Beast", was suffering from Multiple Sclerosis. Through previous IRON MAIDEN performances at Brixton Academy and Hammersmith Apollo, and some amazing fund raising efforts of the fans, the trust has improved the quality of life with financial support to Clive and other MS sufferers.

Commenting on the forthcoming show, Bruce Dickinson said, "We added this final date to help continue the great work that the Clive Burr MS Fund has done. We've had an amazing time on this tour so far and the summer shows are shaping up to be something quite special in their own right. It promises to be a fun and special way to celebrate the end of the tour with all our friends who have supported us and Clive over the years."

Ticketmaster is kindly donating a portion of its booking charges to the fund.

Are you saying US 'made' them when the rest of the world didn't care? Are you kidding! The US didn't even 'get' the whole Seventh Son album - and that's according to Steve Harris. But of course Maiden will play there again. They'll probably take the Powerslave revisited tour there first.

'They won't play the U.S. anymore. We made them when the rest of the world didn't care. Now, we don't care. Enough. I do feel for Clive though. MS is terrible. RIP Richord Pryor.'

Yeah in the same way y'all won WW2 huh....Jog on.

You've completely misunderstood what I said. When I said the didn't 'get' Seventh Son, I didn't mean the tracklisting - I mean't that it didn't sell as well as previous Maiden albums in the US at the time and according to Harris in the Run To The Hills book - the whole concept album thing didn't go down very well over there.

Elsewhere you're way, way off the mark and the comparison with Kiss is laughable. Firstly, Maiden release live albums because the fans want them - there's a demand and the sets on those albums are always different for each one as they feature a number of songs from their current album at the time.

Secondly, you're not calling 'a spade a spade' at all. You attack Maiden for rehashing 'the same old songs in a slightly different order'. Well that's complete bullshit - the band toured a Matter Of Life And Death playing the whole album in order. How is that a rehash of the past? Every tour they go out on the setlist changes.

Get your facts straight before you shoot off.

I think he might be referencing the fact you joined WWII 3 years late, and WWI for that matter. How any of this has anything to do with metal I haven't a clue.

So is that your argument? Throwing percentages around and ignoring most of the points I made. You made sweeping statements about Iron Maiden's live sets over the years being the same- not just live albums - but I notice you don't argue my points regarding that.

The appearance of the two songs you give as examples is irrelevant as Maiden play those songs at nearly EVERY gig they play - the crowds want those songs and the live album is a representation of the live experience. But I notice that you don't talk about all the other songs that feature on their live albums and the fact that they differ between releases. You have to rely on two songs to back yourself up. If Maiden aren't a relevant band then what was their recent album? Some kind of aural illusion? As I remember it is a critical success across the board (bar Don Kaye).

And Kiss are exactly the same as Maiden are they? 23 albums of crap is no good to anyone!

If he doesn't like Maiden then just let him be. Ignore is rants. I think it's cool of Maiden to do that for Clive Burr.

I concur. In his current condition he's still better but as a whole I still love Maiden.

If Davey was gone it would all be over.

That's my fault. I felt making the Iron Maiden fanboys so upset that they peed their pants, and I guess it worked. All you have to do on this sight to freak 'em out is to bag on Maiden or say that Sammy hagar was better than Roth, or Dimmu Borgir is true Black Metal.

Idiot

ok, lemmie get this straight, first your all arguing about WW2, then you all argue about KISS and Maiden (Maiden wins hands down) and NOW your arguing about Maiden and Priest. that about it?
and btw, priest may be tighter with riffs, but Maiden has BETTER rifs and lyrics. and its only thier newer shit that goes on forever, and their older shit is better neway. and about Maiden not having classic rifs, WHAT THE FUCKING HELL ARE YOU SMOKING?!?!?!?!? what about Number of the Beast, Trooper, Iron maiden, Invaders and so meany fucking more, seriously, they have so meany "classic riffs" no band can top them for their amazing talent. NOBODY!!!!!!! and for their lyrics, dude, Harris is the shit.

oh yea, Clive Burr owns McBrain to the moon and back again

LONG LIVE EDDIE!!!!!! \m/

oh and i dont fucking care what you think, i love Maiden, i ant them to have my childern. so fuck off idc if you think im a fanboy!

"Millions of Europeans have probably never heared of Kiss, and millions more will admit to listening to them in the 80's, but when told that they are still around, will reply with a "really?" "I had no clue" Then they go about their merry way."

The things he did with a single kick put to shame most double-kick drummers.

His style drove the Maiden sound. He has been sorely missed since he left.

And his use of the bass drum is also far more accomplished if you ask me. Just listen to Somewhere in Time or Brave New World. That's no double bass, it's all played using a single bass drum, he does that live too. Plus his fills and his use of dynamics are great.
But Clive was a great drummer too, that's for sure. Better technique doesn't mean you're a better drummer, Clive could definitely play and his drumming was really fluid.

Tough calls here. My favorite bands of all time, in order, are:
1) Iron Maiden
2) Kiss
3) Iced Earth
4) Judas Priest

I wont compare Maiden and Kiss because one is a metal band and one is a rock band. Kiss got me into the rock scene. I loved them. Great live band as well. Then I got into Maiden arond 87 and I was blwon away. To the moron who said Maiden doesnt write great songs,,,uh, yeah they do. They are the best at that! I like Judas Priest as well but they will never rate higher than Maiden. Maiden has the best singer ever, the best bass player in Harris, and the best song writers. Throw in an always terrific live show and there is no getting better than that!
