IRON MAIDEN: 'Eddie Rips Up the World' Tour Opener Setlist Revealed - May 28, 2005
IRON MAIDEN kicked off their "Eddie Rips Up the World" tour Saturday night (May 28) in Prague, Czech Republic. According to MaidenFans.com, "The Ides of March" is the taped introduction played before the band launch into set opener "Murders in the Rue Morgue". The stage set is said to be related to the first DVD of the history series MAIDEN is putting out out, and an "Eddie Rips You Up" backdrop was prominently displayed, as were several others. Pyrotechnics were reportedly used on five songs. Fire was used during "The Number of the Beast", and, as rumored, girls dressed up as devils were seen running on stage during the same song. Eddie appears behind the set in his "Iron Maiden" role. Then later in the show, a traditional walking giant Eddie makes an appearance. Finally, singer Bruce Dickinson dresses up as a trooper during "The Trooper".

IRON MAIDEN's concert in Prague ran for one hour and 45 minutes and included the following tracks:

01. Murders in the Rue Morgue
02. Another Life
03. Prowler
04. The Trooper
05. Remember Tomorrow
06. Run to the Hills
07. Charlotte the Harlot
08. Revelations
09. Where Eagles Dare
10. Die With Your Boots On
11. Phantom of the Opera
12. The Number of the Beast
13. Hallowed Be Thy Name
14. Iron Maiden
15. Running Free
16. Drifter
17. Sanctuary

I hope they do some more off-dates, as Ozzfest just isn't going to provide enough time.

Even if they just cut it off at the 12'th song, thats a decent show, and ends with Number of the Beast

Not too interesting past "Where Eagles Dare". Definitely should have included something totally unexpected like Invaders. Where is Killers?

This current trend of Maiden having girls dressed up as prop-of-the-moment is pretty damn shameless.

They had 'virgins' that they 'set fire', when they 'forced' them inside the Wickerman, during the Brave New World tour. Its not something that 'new'.

They should also have a few dressed up in the wolfman masks, like the Number of the Beast video, when they have the couple ballroom dancing around the stage. That'd be funny.

Where's Quest for Fire? Where's Sun and Steel? Where's Prodigal Son? Where's Purgatory? Where's Strange World?
Paul Di Anno's sets are a lot better than this.
Sorry i love Iron Maiden but i'm so disappointed i won't go.
See you on the next one guys.

I'm looking forward to the live album release now. Most of the Di'Anno-era songs (as performed by Bruce) are not on any of the live albums, so that will be nice to have. Still looking forward to seeing them, though.

They have nothing to prove. Hell break out the rare shit, Eagles is a highlight here, but there is soo much stuff the diehards want to hear that hasn't been heard live.

I'm sure the Ozzfest set will rock. Who cares if its only 70 minutes? That's like listening to a large metal CD like Opeth or something, and I'm sure they will put on a kickass show.

The whole "Early Days" idea is fucking stupid. Most of their good songs came out later on in their career, Powerslave and after. Plus there isn't a very "Early Days" vibe if Janick is playing with them onstage, because he didn't join until 1990. I hope they realize how moronic this idea is and they play a full fucking set list.

I hate the first Iron Maiden album.

"Most of their good songs came out later on in their career, Powerslave and after."

Which is your opinion, and your entitled to it.
I for one disagree entirely, thinking Powerslave to be tha last great release that the band recorded before sliding down in many repects - I saw the World Slavery our, and have never seen them top it since.

As to "Shazz-Fest".. don't worry- protest by not going.

Maiden are getting a tad old, so I understand their relatively short set - same on the Dance Of Death tour. The set list is very solid, with songs like Phantom and Where Eagles Dare which I expected to be included. The only real surprise for me is the skipping of The Prisoner. I like Janick as a third guitarist, especially live, as long as Adrian plays his own parts. How can anybody dislike Maiden to be able to recreate their guitar harmony plus rhythm guitar parts live? I don't get.

My favourite Maiden era is the Powerslave / SIT / SSOASS period and I'm really looking forward to that tour (probably it'll be the one after the next album tour).

Allround best metal band of all time. Anybody who disagrees is not a real metal fan. Ha, there I said it!

Up the Irons!

I agree with bassbar. I think Maiden peaked with their third album, beginning a slow descent with each succeeding record. Same as Metallica and Slayer.

every tour.. every time.. come on dudes they weren't that good...
drop these songs...murders, prowler, run to the hills, phantom, running
free, sanctuary..and yes, number of the beast is good but tired now.
pick up these..
still life, sea of madness, wasted years, rime of the ancient mariner,
holy smoke, hooks in you, infinite dreams, and the fear of the dark album in it's entirety... also brave new world, rainmaker..
fuck those tired ass old songs, please...

wow come on! it's a great setlist!!! I have only one big complaint: Where is the "Prisoner"?!! It's one of the best live songs of Maiden and they are not playing it for a while. Since this is the first four albums tour, if they are not playing it now that means that they wont play it again! Till they anounced the tour I was dreaming of the Prisoner's intro, everybody is talking with that Prisoner guy and the excellent drums (Burr rules) start and then lights...

I think they should add Prisoner. It's a must!

Prodigal Son would be great also but I think they preffered Remember Tomorrow as a semi-ballad. Also I always say this, Sanctuary is not a good closing song. It's not very well known (it's not included in any European presses) and it's not representing the classic Maiden sound. But these are not important. But PRISONER is important!

I would pay OZZFEST money to see them play Aces High. I feel like us americans lost interest in them ( Maiden) years ago and let them slip away. Now we have to settle for OZZfest to see a glimpse of them, A damn shame.

when maiden play the states, fans will travel. I'm going to, fuck anything that gets in my way. i'm diggin' the setlist, but since they'll have to drop some songs for ozzfest and might cut it off at 12, i'd like to see 5,6,11,and 12 replaced with more from Piece, like Icarus, To Tame a Land, 22 Acacia venue and Prisoner or Invaders. Like others have said, perform some of the obscure numbers.

Long time fan of Maiden, since the NOTB tour, maybe 30 or so shows under my belt. I've been excited about this tour before it started. Now I know what the set list is for Europe just wandering how they will reduce it for Ozzfest. Not a real big fan of Paul Dianno's material but love it all the same. I hope when Maiden tours with Ozzfest, the set list might be more updated with Bruce's material. Sun and Steel, Quest For Fire, To Tame A Land, 22 Acacia Avenue, Prisoner, Invaders, etc. I know Maiden will only be playing around a hour at Ozzfest, it will probably be one of the best hours you'll ever have with Maiden. Let's celebrate the joy of what Maiden has brought us over the past close to 30 years, and not BITCH about what Maiden is doing or not doing. Maiden are the kings of true METAL, not this shit that's out now. So, up the irons baby, and don't miss Ozzfest, they will bring the house down, o'yeah, Sabbath should be o.k.
