BLACK SABBATH: First North American Tour Date Announced - Mar. 14, 2013
BLACK SABBATH will launch its world tour with a series of dates beginning next month in New Zealand, Australia and Japan. Later this summer, the band will kick off its North American tour which will keep the band on the road from late July through September and includes one Canadian stop, on August 14 at Toronto's Air Canada Centre. Tickets for the Toronto concert go on sale on April 13.

BLACK SABBATH has confirmed the title and release date of the first album by the band in 35 years to feature singer Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler recording together again. The disc is officially called "13" and will arrive on June 11. According to The Pulse Of Radio, several configurations of the album are available now for pre-order, including a standard CD, a deluxe double CD that includes a second disc of exclusive bonus audio material, a heavyweight vinyl album in a gatefold sleeve and a "Super Deluxe Box Set" containing the double CD, the vinyl album, an exclusive DVD documentary on the band's reunion, "13" photographic prints and handwritten lyrics.

Anyone who pre-orders the album in any of these formats at the band's official web site will be entered into a drawing to win a pair of VIP tickets to an official "13" album launch event in London. The prize will include a meet-and-greet with the band, flights and accommodations.

SABBATH has also released a new behind-the-scenes video in which producer Rick Rubin talks about working with the band. A tiny sample of new music can be heard in the three-minute clip.

The three original members are joined on the album by RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE drummer Brad Wilk, who may or may not tour with them as well. Founding drummer Bill Ward is sitting out the reunion over a contractual dispute.

if you're into drummers or not, bill ward's influence was undeniable. both brad wilk (on the album) and tommy clufetos (who will tour) play either too stiff or simply have no style at all.

i'm amazed they're flogging this dead horse this far. iommi, osbourne, butler, and ward would still have a hard time chugging through their set but, at the very least, it would have some soul.

i will pass...

The heart and soul of Sabbath have always been and will always be Iommi and Butler. Bill at one time was an excellent drummer but now he is just a head case and the rest have moved on as it should be. Ozzy and Bill were never needed to write good music in Sabbath, that was always handled by Iommi and Butler.

i actually think ozzy1 is ozzy1---and he got ticked at riot act--cuz he told people not to preorder black sabbath---so riot act *(warnerbros employee now--not that that has to be bad)--could make more money if people bought them at the store
---
i dont know--but even if riotact works for wb---he is still a giant ozzy fan---
i;'m just saying ozzy---yer dealing with actual fans here'
-----
anyways---i think the new sabbath is going to have some killer tunes that transcend the sabbath bloody sabbath album---mixed with some stranged "p.c. obligation" type bullshit---that has awkward themes--that ozzy kind of owes to people who "nag him"
-0--
overall still one for the vaults---
seriously ozzy--people like really love you
---
also in the 90s---there was this whole "art over commerce" kind of vibe ---and it was kind of pushed by commies---

but maybe riot as acting kind of from a wannabe purist kind of vibe0----not like " wanting to exploit sabbath"

fuck it--i;m just saying--he's goddam consistent fan for sure

So sick of hearing about Bill Ward.

He was a great drummer in his 20s. At 60+ no way he can do the new album justice.

Anyone who says otherwise doesn't understand the physical requirements of metal drumming.

Saw the Born Again tour, and the first original line-up reunion, but by far the best Sab show I ever saw was the Dehumanizer tour with Dio. Just mesmerizing.

Still, the first eight Sab records are the greatest heavy metal documents of all time. Period.

I agree, but it's not really a matter of age; it's a matter of genetics.

Some people get lucky and age like Mick Jagger, and some are unlucky and age like Bill Ward.

Neil Peart is just as tight and hard-hitting as he ever was. Nicko McBrain is 60 and still brings the power every night.

Unfortunately Bill Ward just got old, and got old fast. He probably CAN still drum very well in a studio setting, where the environment is controlled and he can be comfortable, but being on the road would probably wear on him.

Brad Wilk is a helluva drummer...people shouldn't sell the guy short. I can't wait to hear what he does with the Sabbath guys.

Whether to get excited about this will depend on the setlist. If they drag out the same 10 Iron Man/Paranoid songs - pass. If they really dug deep into those first four albums - before their no-longer-important period kicked in - maybe.

The no Bill Ward thing is a near deal-breaker for me. The idea that he's too old and can't cut it anymore defines stupidity. Wilk could certainly do the job, but nobody plays like Bill Ward. Just the fact that the remaining 3 members are not only unwilling to work out whatever it takes to get him back but are willing to throw in a ringer and call it Sabbath... I'll keep my money.

Remember 11/11/11??????? All 4 original members together for a worldwide press conference to announce this. I seriously doubt they would have drug Bill along if they weren't confident in him at that time.

Yes I know he had problems and they worried about him on a Ozzfest tour and had Vinnie as backup just in case but it has been quite evident that Bill still has a passion and plays everyday. It simply came down to money folks! Too sad. I wish he would have at least played on the album if nothing else.

Curious to see who does the tour. No one swings like Ward. He is a jazz influenced drummer where as everyone else is gonna be influenced by rock/metal and very few can play like the old gods like Ward. It won't sound like that classic Sabbath without him. At least Geezer and Ozzy will make it almost there though!

Only if there is a general admission standing floor. Having seats on the floor is for old people

The price of admission should be compensated due to the lack of Bill and Ozzy's horrible out of tune vocals. Unfortunately it'll be jacked because you're going to see Ozzy the reality show star and not one of the oldest voices in hard rock.
