EDDIE VAN HALEN Working On LL COOL J's 'Authentic' Album? - Mar. 14, 2013
According to the VAN HALEN fan site Van Halen News Desk, the band's guitarist, Eddie Van Halen, appears to be part of hip hop legend LL Cool J's upcoming album, "Authentic", due out on April 30. On March 4, the pair jointly released a photo of them sitting in the recording studio, with no accompanying text. The site adds: "Eddie Van Halen is either working as a co-producer, or has recorded a guest part LL Cool J, or for an artist who is recording with LL Cool J. No doubt that more info will be coming in the near future."

On Monday (March 11), VAN HALEN singer David Lee Roth announced during a radio interview: "We're going to be playing Europe — probably 50, 60 shows outside of the States, starting at the end of this year, and then come back around through the U.S." Legendary music mogul Irving Azoff, who manages Eddie and Alex Van Halen, spoke to Billboard, and essentially called Roth a liar, explaining, "All the announced dates, which include the date in Australia, the dates in Japan and a date in Wisconsin, are confirmed and on sale and those are real. I manage the Van Halens, and I know nothing about any European tour."

A while back, drummer Alex Van Halen joked with The Pulse Of Radio about a certain affliction nearly every rock band finds itself dealing with. "The joke has become the 'L.S.D.' thing, 'Lead Singer Disease,' and it's not an entirely off-base comment," he said. "Not all lead singers, but most of them, they're on a different planet. Part of what makes a band. . . it's like a team! You may have a star player or two, but it's still a team! Without the team, y'know, you're really dead in the water."

VAN HALEN will close out the annual Rock USA festival, scheduled for July 17 through July 20 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

apparently you've never seen all the great things evh has done for music. this is great for both artists to reach broader crowds and introduce great guitar to rap, and for ll to show he still has it I award you no points, and may god have mercy on your soul

Since Irving Azoff called Roth a liar and denied there is any truth to Van Halen playing European shows, I guess that confirms that what Roth said is true.

Anytime a manager emphatically denies a rumor, it's just confirmation that the rumor is 100% true and the "Official" announcement is coming out soon.

Guys like Irving Azoff think everyone is stupid.

What new songs? Roth himself said that ADKOT was 100% from old riffs from 35 years ago, and that he and Ed haven't sat down to write a single new song in over 20 years. Considering that and the fact that it only has 2 solid tunes, You and Your Blues, and Outta Space, the rest is sub par and barely even listenable vocal wise, I'd d say it's over for these guys, even if they got back MA. MA can't even save these guys from themselves. Ed and Dave are just not that interesting anymore musically.

Funny-Ed won't do new stuff with his band, but will with LL? Just what LL's fan base wants.

they can bitch about roth all they want but he is the only one who seems to want to create new music with the original band so if there is an asshole in the group, it's not him! he may have LSD but he is not the one who wants to rehash shit from the 70's!
and i preordered that last cd hoping for my favorite bands triumphant return but it was awful. 5150 guitars are just wrong with roth, bring back the brown sound and i will be the first in line.

Remember the Beat it solo? Fuckin kids these days run your mouths and know jackshit about music history whatsoever.

I don't care what anyone says or thinks and I don't care if the songs on A Different Kind of Truth were written 30 years ago. I still love the album, except for Tattoo.

I saw Van Halen a year ago in Atlantic City and the show was great!

just sad when our rock and roll heros stoop to this level. none of your fans care about rap at least this one anyway and I am pretty sure anyone who was with you from 1978 thru the 80's feels the same way. and I bet rap fans could care less who you are and are the not the least bit interested in buying a vh record. why waste tim working this when you could be spending your time going thru the vaults for the next vh record? just do us a favor and make it a instrumental record so roth's vocals do not ruin it like the last one.

Wolf has been on tour with Tremonti, and Wolf not Dave or the brothers was the one who went through the old tapes and found all those riffs and songs for the last record. If they want to record then when the kid is available again I am sure he can talk his old man into laying down some new tracks.

Why all the crying about a fine album by van halen? There is a lot worse albums out there, but i have to say michael jackson is many times more talented then some rapper mumbling in a mic and their best songs usualy have chorus from afamous old song or some girl that can actually sing.

youd think from some of the comments that EVH was going to be working with some chode like Tpain or some autotune shit. No, LL Cool J, who is about as cool to todays youth as Dean Martin is. Kids are a bit more hip today to stuff thanks to the internet, but most of them would be "who"? Be glad its actually an artist like this and not some shitty modern crappy rapper, or some autotune pop shithead...
Tone Loc already sampled Van Halen in Wild Thing, and rappers have been sampling him and his brother for years in other words, is it bad that he's working with one now?
It actually seems like we're back in the eighties now, EVH doing guest stuff, Dave getting in trouble for interviews, VH playing outdoor festivals in the summer, a terrific comeback album (though imperfect).
I don't get the complainers, he may had done this in the eighties anyway, hey maybe even could have done it anonymously, you never know.
Itd be one thing if EVH pulled a Jimmy Page and started working with todays equivalent of Puff Daddy but LL is a classic rapper rom yesteryear and not on the level of shit Puff or some of these other chodes are

ADKOT is the album of the decade! I can't wait for more music from them and hope it isn't another decade plus to hear it.
