BLACK SABBATH: '13' Album Gets Official Release Date - Mar. 13, 2013

BLACK SABBATH's new album, "13" — the first in 35 years to feature bassist Geeezer Butler, guitarist Tony Iommi and singer Ozzy Osbourne — will be released on June 11 via Vertigo/Universal Republic in the U.S. and Vertigo in all other territories. The drum tracks on the group's first LP with Osbourne since 1978 were laid down by RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE sticksman Brad Wilk following original drummer Bill Ward's decision to bow out of the reunion.

Osbourne, Iommi and Butler recorded the album primarily in Los Angeles with producer Rick Rubin. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include three seven-plus-minute behemoths "End Of The Beginning", "God Is Dead" and "Epic", as well as a track about killing pedophile priests ("Dear Father") and another about the scourge of methamphetamine addiction ("Methademic").

Beginning today, "13" will be available for pre-order on a variety of formats via BlackSabbath.com.

* Vinyl: a 12-inch heavyweight (180g) vinyl album in a gatefold sleeve

I have low expectations for this. Ozzy is senile and in a sad state. NONE of his solo albums are very good. NONE (Randy Rhodes was a GOD, but that doesn't make the songs good).

I HOPE it is good, but I doubt it will be better than "The Devil You Know" by Black Sabbath under their court-ordered name.

No Bill Ward is ridiculous, he is a HUGE part of their classic sound. I DOUBT that Tony and Geezer are as excited about doing this as they are about doing it with Dio for those last few years of his life (but, they paycheck will be nice)

I have a lot of good vibes and faith about this Sabbath album. Sometimes the greats can still be just that. David Bowie just put out a new record after ten years and it's very strong. Sabbath paired with Rick Rubin was, really, the only way to go to get a Sabbath album that most people would wanna hear. People can say whatever they wanna about Rick Rubin, but I can only see his involvement in the Sabbath record being a big asset: getting and inspiring Geezer to keep writing lyrics, honing in on the original sound and vibe of the band.. That would be the ultimate: a new Sabbath record so solid and killer that it makes people a third of their age look like true lightweights. I'm looking forward to hearing how well Ozzy is singing as well as the wealth of killer riffs I'm sure Tony whipped up. I also can't wait to hear how Brad Wilk sounds with the band. Cheers.

I'm really hoping for something like Scary Dreams rather than the reunion tracks. Geezer's lyrics with Ozzy's vocals is a dynamic that definitely needs to be heard again.

think Black Sabbath should have earned the respect of EVERY Metal on Earth by now?

I'm reading posts about they hate Rick Rubin, the new drummer, and the god damned album title. These guys could have packed it all in and said fuck you to all of us. They are in their SIXTIES and giving us one last album before they retire and go into seclusion.

Feel fortunate.

These guys started it all, and I think we all should feel fortunate to be given one last effort.

anyone ever consider that at this age that Bill Ward can't play as well anymore.....I'm not saying this definitively.....I have no idea....has he done much in the past few years.

Everyone envisions Bill Ward in the band and him playing as he did in the 70s.....maybe he simply can't pull it off

the first few Sabbath albums were great and some of the best albums ever, and then they did some great albums with Dio but not is good i think but still very good. and the last one with Dio was very good and it would have been nice to see them longer together.
but Ozzy solo albums are great too and so are Dio's but Ozzy's are better all together.
and now they are doing this final album for fun and i bet they wouldn't be doing it otherwise, they have enough money and all that bullshit.

and i know this album is gonna be good maybe not great and not as good as the first ones but so what????
its the best of what they can do right now and it will still be better then most of the crap on the radio

Obviously, some are better than others.

The new one will at least be a great and hopefully awesome!

Ordered the deluxe version, can't wait to spin that vinyl!

In total, 68 Euro's for me...it will be worth it!

I think it was the promise of the original lineup with the photo shoot and all that burned my ass. I really dig the dude from Rage and I'm sure he will bring in that haunted element to the songs. I will have to say no to actually paying for it. No Bill Ward, no Sabbath. Funny how everyone want to lick out Ozzy's ass all of the sudden.
