DEEP PURPLE: Audio Samples Of Two New Songs Available - Mar. 9, 2013
Audio samples of two new songs from British hard rock legends DEEP PURPLE"Hell To Pay" and "All The Time In The World" — can be streamed at Qobuz.com (click on "ÉCOUTER" next to each songtitle to hear the sample). Both tracks come off the band's 19th studio album, "Now What?!", which will be released via earMUSIC, the Hamburg, Germany-based international rock label which is part of Edel Group, on the following dates:

* Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Finland, Spain: April 26
* UK, France, Benelux, Poland, Czech Republic, Norway, Denmark: April 29
* North America, Italy: April 30
* Sweden: May 1

Moscow radio station Rock FM will broadcast "Hell To Pay" and "All The Time In The World" on Monday, March 11. The tracks will air at 3:15 p.m. MSK and be repeated at 6:15 p.m. MSK. The same day a video teaser for "All The Time In The World" will be released on the official DEEP PURPLE YouTube channel.

Rock FM broadcasts locally on 95.2 FM and online (worldwide) at Rockfm.ru (click on the white "play" button next to the station logo).

After various songwriting sessions in Europe, the band recorded and mixed the album in Nashville, Tennessee with producer Bob Ezrin (KISS, PINK FLOYD, PETER GABRIEL, ALICE COOPER, KANSAS). The CD contain 11 tracks, including "Out Of Hand", "Weirdistan", "Uncommon Man" and "Above And Beyond". The latter song references the band's late keyboard player, Jon Lord, in the lyric "Souls having touched are forever entwined."

According to a press release, "Now What?!" was recorded with no musical rules… and it shows a modern and fresh production… to the point that DEEP PURPLE have never sounded so close to the spirit of the '70s in the last 20 years as they do now. The CD has the excellence and elegance of "Perfect Strangers" and the wild freedom of "Made In Japan".

"Now What?!" will also be released as a limited edition with a bonus DVD featuring DEEP PURPLE discussing the new album and one bonus studio cover version. It will also be made available as a double vinyl LP.

The first taste of "Now What?!" will be the release of a double A-side single on March 29 (as a limited and numbered vinyl seven-inch, CD single and digital download).

Seven-inch vinyl (limited to 1000 numbered copies)

Side A:

01. Hell To Pay (radio edit)

Side B:

01. All The Time In The World (radio mix; edit)

CD Single

01. All The Time In The World (radio mix; edit)
02. Hell To Pay (radio edit)
03. Perfect Strangers (bonus track live)
04. Rapture Of The Deep (bonus track live)

DEEP PURPLE's 18th studio album, "Rapture of the Deep", was released in November 2005. It was the fourth studio CD from DEEP PURPLE since guitarist Steve Morse joined the band in 1994. It was also the second album to feature veteran keyboardist Don Airey.

"Rapture of the Deep" was produced by Mike Bradford, who also worked on the band's previous release, 2003's "Bananas".

Jesus....that was terrible. Pretty disappointing stuff, I have to say. I was really looking forward to this release, now.....not so much. Sorry, I know it's "DEEP PURPLE" and all, but this is just bad.

...even I must say that I am somewhat disappointed by these samples. I won't say that they're bad, but they're just not that great. "All the Time in the World" feels like a blatant attempt to recreate the magic of "Clearly Quite Absurd", and sadly falls short of the latter's quality. And, as for "Hell to Pay", it just feels like 100% unadulterated filler; there is simply nothing special about it. I agree with Living Wreck, actually; while I don't share his feelings of utter disbelief, I do sincerely hope that there is better material on the upcoming album.

you bashers must not like Deep Purple or their music. it sounds like classic Purple to me and I can't wait to get the cd. at this stage in their career why would I want them to sound any different than the band I have known and loved for years?so they aren't metal when did they ever claim to be? straight up hard and heavy melodic rock and what you expect from them.

Sounds like something that could have come off of The House Of Blue Light... which I think is awesome, actually.

I dig Purple, but those two songs are no good, judging from those clips. Too bad.

The songs don't sound "too" bad, but I think the production could have something to do with it too... Deep Purple and modern production just doesn't fit, all the life is drained out of the tracks and it all comes out sterile.

Some artists keep things fresh and exciting as the years roll on.

Other artists, like Deep Purple sadly, make stuff like this. Sounds exactly like what it is; old people music.

People act as if these people are still in their 20s. Musical abilities and tastes change as a person gets older.

I really like the clips. Rapture of the deep was a disappointment to me, so I'm glad they went in a different direction. This sounds less metal, and more like 70's hard rock. Which they also did right with Purpendicular.

Not that heaviness is negative, but it just ain't what Purple was about. Agressive, yes. But not heavy.

...and that something is Bob Ezrin, I suspect. All the time... sounds lika a song from Ian Gillans One eye to Marocco, and Hell to pay, like someone mentioned, from House of blue light or Abandon maybe.

I liked Rapture of the deep because it was a bit rawer in sound, but what the heck, I'll probably like it when it arrives.

Judging by these clips the new album will sound just like Rapture Of The Deep, and that's disappointing.

I'm a massive Deep Purple fan. I'm not expecting them to remake Machine Head, or even Purpendicular, but come on, these clips are the worst things I've ever heard the band do, and it breaks my heart.

Huge fan here for many years, an old geezer I am, and it just sounds to me like they have run out of ideas. First track was just dull, and the second had no "kick" to it at all...very forgettable.

Really really hoping this new album has more life to it than these short clips show.. :(
