MÖTLEY CRÜE Bassist: 'There Is No Rush Like Performing Live For A Sold-Out Crowd' - Feb. 28, 2013
MÖTLEY CRÜE kicked off its Australian tour with KISS earlier tonight (Thursday, February 28) at Perth Arena in Perth.

CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx has checked in with the following recap of the initial concert:

"Considering the time difference from Los Angeles, the jet lag isn’t too bad. Our hotel fire alarm kept going off last night and it was somehow a blessing in disguise because it kept me awake late enough to help get me back on track.

"I was talking to Paul Stanley [of KISS] backstage today and he said he is still waking up at 4 am. Jet lag is a bitch when you have to get up onstage and give 100%, but once the lights go down, all the fatigue goes right out the window. There is no rush like performing live for a sold-out crowd.

"First show tonight was really great considering we’ve been off for about five months. The band felt really tight and the energy coming off the crowd was a great kick off to what is going to be an amazing tour. Tonight was also the first show I played my new Schecter Sixx basses and I can't believe how great they felt to perform live with. Andy, our soundman, said they sound massive out front. Mission accomplished.

"We are doing meet-and-greets over here and it makes me so happy to see people's faces light up just to meet the band. Again, mission accomplished…

"I brought my Leica M9 with me and am gonna try and get some photo journalistic style photography in on our days off, but for now you’ll just have to deal with this pre show shot of me…

"Good night and thank you."

Does it count as a 'Sold-out crowd' when you're performing in dive bars?

This isn't a bad tour, I'd love to see KISS and although I'll never be Mötley's biggest fan there are worse bands that could be opening.

One time I was bar hopping in LA and accidentally walked into a Motley Crue concert. There were a couple of people watching them, but most of the people there were in the next room doing karaoke, which naturally, I joined in on. I sang "Remember The Time" by Michael Jackson that night. Good times.

Neither band plays to 16,000-18,000 fans anymore. Even joined together they can't do that.

That correct they play for even more fans these days KISS alone sold 32000 tickets at Stockholms Stadion last time and 22000 tickets at Malm? Stadion this year KISS are headlining Sweden Rock Festival and a concert at the new Friends Arena. KISS have already sold 25000 tickets for their concert in Norway.

So burieddiaper check your facts

Was it a rush at Zepp Osaka a couple of years back, when Vince came in in the middle of a verse, threw the whole band off, and you got out of time with the canned backing vocals? The WTF look on your face - priceless!

They know sell out arenas in 2013, bet nobody else from the 80's can say that. Those Australian's are lucky to get such a great tour. Can't wait to see Motley Crue one of the greatest rock bands of all time, in a few monthes.

They're barely rock fans.

Just people who are desperate for a night out, going to see the dinosaurs making noise one more time.

The ferver of seeing a kick-ass band with a great new recording has diminished to the point where people just go out of boredom.

Only a small handful of these bands can pull in crowds over 10,000 on their own:

Metallica
Iron Maiden
Rush
AC/DC
Bon Jovi (although they are more like Duran Duran than these other bands)

Motley Crue on their own are good for maybe 5000, which still isn't bad. Kiss, same thing.

But, looked into meet n greet in CT in May. $999 and no Tommy.

That's insanity. If I pay a grand Tommy better be there and I should get a 3-some with the Nasty Habits. Even then I want $600 change.

He must be reminiscing that tour when Matthew Trippe played in Motley Crue impersonating Nikki Sixx when the real Sixx was recovering from a car crash!
