EPICA's 'The Phantom Agony' To Be Reissued As Deluxe Digipack - Feb. 28, 2013
"The Phantom Agony", the 2003 debut album from Dutch female-fronted symphonic EPICA, will be re-released as a deluxe digipack on March 23 to coincide with the band's special tenth-anniversary show at the Klokgebouw in Eindoven, Netherlands. This ambitious concert will feature a 70-piece symphonic orchestra and choir, international guests and loads of special effects.

EPICA's previous label, Transmission Records, will reissue "The Phantom Agony", in a special package containing 15 bonus tracks, including seven previously unreleased versions and one previously unreleased song. The album will also contain a 20-page booklet with photos and liner notes by EPICA founder Mark Jansen. Along with the deluxe digipack, the album will also be released on double vinyl being pressed on high-quality 180-gram audiophile vinyl and put in a 350-gram cardboard sleeve, including all lyrics. This will also include six bonus tracks. There will also be exclusive bundles with a limited-edition t-shirt.

Comments Jansen: "[EPICA and Transmission] have put aside our differences, 'cause at the end of the day, both parties want to have the debut album available to the EPICA fans, as it has been out of print for more than five years!"

To pre-order the album, go to this location.

This is the only album I like from this band, but don't know if I will pick it up or not.

That one song they did like ten years ago into perpetuity.

The shows will feature this one song they did ten years ago, after the intermission, they'll do this one song they did ten years ago, then as an encore, this one song they did like ten years ago.

Then at the merch table, a rerelease of this one song they did like ten years ago. Bonus: seven versions of thise one song they did like ten years ago!

You can't make this stuff up!

Epica is one of those bands that, to me, aren't that terrible, but once you've heard everything 4 or 5 times, you're just done with it. It doesn't help they get pretentious about their lyrics with every new album release.

Not to mention they have 3 kinds of fans. The hardcore teen crowd, who cry at every show and yell 'I love you Epica' between songs, the older metal fans who don't like modern metal or extreme metal and listen to Epica when giving their Metallica cd's a rest, and people who want to bang Simone so bad they think liking her band will get them closer to it.

you forgot the 4th type of fans:

The (older) fans who like extreme metal, have nothing with new metal, but do appreciate this band and the music they make. and considders the nice frontlady as a bonus ;-)
