VOIVOD Frontman Interviewed On 'Rich Davenport's Rock Show' (Audio) - Feb. 24, 2013
Vocalist Denis "Snake" Belanger of Canadian metal innovators VOIVOD was interviewed on the latest edition of "Rich Davenport's Rock Show". The program can be streamed using the Mixcloud player below. (Note: The Belanger interview begins around the 46-minute mark.)

VOIVOD's new album, "Target Earth", sold around 1,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD was issued on January 22 via the band's own company, Iron Gang Factory, and Century Media.

VOIVOD's previous album, "Infini", opened with around 840 units back in July 2009.

"Target Earth" was recorded in early 2012 at Pierre Rémillard's (OBLIVEON, CRYPTOPSY, KRISIUN, MISERY INDEX) Wild Studio in a small town called St-Zénon in Quebec, Canada and was mixed by Sanford Parker (PELICAN, NACHTMYSTIUM). The follow-up to 2009's "Infini" contains the band's first music to be written with guitarist Dan Mongrain (MARTYR) following the passing of original axeman Denis "Piggy" D'Amour in 2005. The original art was once again drawn by drummer Michel "Away" Langevin and features color schemes from each one of the band's previous albums.

And "Target Earth" is album of the year unless the new Queensryche album (the REAL QR) can top it, which I doubt.

Some of the best material they ever came out with,no disrespect to Piggy in anyway.Chewy did a great job of with the odd timed signature riffs and dissonant chords, bring out the inner Piggy playing style. I like Newsted and is a great guy and a musician. But, I really think if you look when he was in the band and writing music for them in 2003 and 2006,with the lp Voivod and then with Katorz is when they really struggled to make good material.Since Snake and Away do not write the music for the band.It falls on the guitar and bass players to do so.You can hear the progression towards better material in Infini when Blacky was in the band and Dan playing some of Piggies last material for the band.Target Earth is great and I hope that more people buy this lp and go see them live. They deserve it.Hail Voivod.

I love this album but in my opinion it will be tough to beat Soilwork's new one for album of the year.

I've never really listened to voivod before and was at the hmv by my house today and they had it at their listening station and I really liked it. I'm probably going to go back and get it when I get a chance.
