OVERKILL Drops Off 'The Dark Roots Of Thrash' Tour - Feb. 18, 2013
New Jersey thrash metal veterans OVERKILL have released the following statement:

"Due to an illness in the band, OVERKILL has canceled the remainder of its shows on 'The Dark Roots Of Thrash' tour in February. After some time for recovery, we'll be back out in the spring for our Scandinavian tour. See you then!!"

OVERKILL was forced to cancel two of the last three shows on the tour after the band's lead singer, Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth was diagnosed with what is called "walking pneumonia" and was medically advised to not perform due to it potentially getting worse if he did.

Added OVERKILL: "Blitz's condition has gotten slightly worse [after Saturday's show in Worcester, Massachusetts] and he needs some time to get back to 100%. We would like to thank TESTAMENT for a great tour and look forward to everyone back on the road soon."

"The Dark Roots Of Thrash" tour also features TESTAMENT FLOTSAM AND JETSAM and 4ARM.

OVERKILL's new album, "The Electric Age", sold 6,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 77 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was recorded and mixed at Gear Recording Studios in New Jersey, owned and operated by OVERKILL bassist D.D. Verni.

Blitz looked a little under the weather. Whenever he went off stage in between songs, he was hacking his lungs out. Dude needs to chill for a bit.

Maybe if he gets better relatively soon they can add Overkill to the Anthrax/Exodus tour.

Damn, lots of thumbs down. No love for Anthrax? I don't actually think Overkill will be on the tour. I just hope Bobby is back in ass kicking shape soon.

They're the reason I blew up my schedule so I could drive twelve hours to see this show. Can't blame them for the decision, though. And at least the other three bands will put on an awesome show.

But still, they should make it better by extending Flotsam's set!!!

Fuck, I'm going to the show on Saturday. I was really looking forward to seeing them! I'm also hoping Flotsam & Jetsam gets a much longer set!

And hey, dumbfucks, they're not just gonna "jump on" the Anthrax tour. This isn't open mic night at the local pub. Get a clue!

33 posts and not a bad comment. That must be a record.

And yet they are so underrated.

I saw them in MA and it was a blazing 8 songs. Very tight!

Testament were way too loud and the sound sucked.
They always sound terrible at the Palladium in MA.
That place sucks

Get well Bobby.

E~

.....and found F+J's setlist before I went to the Buffalo show last Saturday night. Get there and Overkill is off the bill. F+J did play 3 more songs than what they were playing other nights. They were new songs.

Went to see this show Feb. 15 on Long Island. Really there to see Overkill but I like all three bands. We need more quality tours like this in the US.

Eric AK from Flotsam is a cool dude. He was hanging out by the Tshirt table talking to fans and taking pictures. No Place for Disgrace was a highlight of the night.

Alex Skolnick is an absolute freak on guitar. Seeing him on youtube doesn't do it any justice. Testament was great but Chuck seemed to be running out of steam toward the end.

I was at the Toronto Show last night and Flotsom played a 8 or 9 song set and they kicked ASS! For some reason I think Testament Played less songs than normal... Still a kick ass show and I met Glen Drover after the show!
