GUNS N' ROSES Guitarist RICHARD FORTUS To Hold Master Class At University Of Central Oklahoma - Feb. 16, 2013
The Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma (ACM@UCO) will host guitarist Richard Fortus, member of legendary rock band GUNS N' ROSES, for a free, public master class on February 21 at at 7 p.m. in the ACM@UCO Performance Lab, 329 E. Sheridan in Oklahoma City's Bricktown district.

Fortus joined GUNS N' ROSES in 2001 and recorded on the band's "Chinese Democracy" album. He regularly collaborates with other artists, performing or recording, including Rihanna, Enrique Iglesias, THIN LIZZY, THE PSYCHEDELIC FURS, Fiona Apple, THE CRYSTAL METHOD, Jesse Malin, 'N SYNC and many more. He's also collaborated extensively with electronic artist and composer BT on various scoring projects for TV commercials, movie trailers, and video games.

Fortus is the latest in an impressive list of musicians and industry leaders who have visited the ACM@UCO. Past guests include Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Jackson Browne; Roger Daltrey, lead singer of THE WHO; singer-songwriter Ben Folds; Warner Bros. Records President Livia Tortella; Grammy-nominated producer Greg Kurstin; singer-songwriter Simon Townshend; blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa; and FLAMING LIPS' Steven Drozd.

Based on the successful model from the original ACM in Guilford, England, the ACM@UCO is an innovative music program unlike any other in the U.S., offering an industry-based, "real world" educational experience for those interested in a career in contemporary music.

From its location in downtown Oklahoma City's Bricktown district, the ACM@UCO offers two-year associate degree programs in bass, drums, guitar, keyboard, music business, music production and vocals, with the option to pursue a Bachelor of Applied Technology degree.

So this guy has been in the band for 12 years, and this is the first time I've ever heard of him. I thought it was all Bumblefoot, Axl, and DJ Ashba?

Get yourself a top hat, a Gibson Les Paul in a light wood color and learn to play guitar like he who may not be named, that gets you the job over at Yes Mr. Axl, Sir's Band.

I wasn't implying that Jeff is a junkie - I just thought of a great guitarist (albeit, sloppy onstage, in recent years). God, I hope he hasn't slipped into junkiedom!!!

I'm not sure if you're serious or not. Jeff Hanneman got a nasty infection years ago on his arm, and has literally eaten away at it. He's had multiple surgeries and skin grafts. He's still trying to recover. Here's a picture.

unrelated to this article is one thing: if you have ears and love metal, do yourselves a goddamn favor and buy The Very End's record "Turn Off the World"; it crushes -top to bottom. Check out "Gravity" if you don't believe me and shame on you, Blabbermouth if you guys censor this post - as I am not affiliated to the band in any way. I'm just a fan trying to spread the word of a killer new record in its' ENTIRETY. Although subjective, it's quite possibly the best record of 2012.

I don't think that anyone can claim that they are members of gnr any more. I mean, who is this guy? Axl needs to look at the big picture. He might have taken legal ownership of the band but everyone sees this as the axle solo project.

Screw Axhole Pose & his frauds and hacks world's greatest tribute band!!!!!!!

Scab GNR plays to empty seats every night, plus now do so in 3D, and he now lost that activision court battle for the video game guitar hero, which was released not too long ago! And got his punk a** beaten down by Tommy Hilfiger

The fans hate Poser Rose and will keep doing so forever!!!!!!!!!

Hail & long live the real Guns lineup that being of course: Slash , Izzy , Adler and Duff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fortus is my favorite of the GNR guitaristst now. He has the chops but does his own thing and brings out the showy stuff only on occasion.

Yeah you got me. I changed when it was clear there would be no reunion so Slash's camp did a 180 and launched a fake war to promote Slash's releases.

I write this fake nonsense for the free tickets to metal shows. My friend has a metal show on college radio that works with Roadrunner label. Slash is on the roster. Any other questions?

To compare this guy to Slash is like comparing the singer from Devo to Axl.
