Video: METALLICA Frontman Meets Legendary Skater STEVE CABALLERO - Feb. 15, 2013
A five-minute clip in which METALLICA frontman James Hetfield gives legendary skater Steve Caballero a private tour of the band's headquarters in San Rafael, California can be seen below. The guys talk plans for METALLICA's upcoming album, the band's inspiration and Cab's musical influences when he first started skating.

In a continuing creative partnership, Vans and METALLICA have introduced a four-piece signature collection designed by each band member delivering to stores in February. Each METALLICA member — James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo — had free rein to choose any iconic Vans shoe style and make it their own while drawing from their favorite influences in the worlds of music, action sports and art to create Vans shoes reflecting their personal style.

For his Vans shoe (see photo below), Hetfield went the hi-top route, adding in hex-bolt eyelets and his own personal take on the skull and crossbones to be part of the Vans Sk8-Hi Deconstruct.

The shoe is available at the Metallica x Vans microsite.

In March, METALLICA will introduce the "Kill 'Em All"-themed shoes featuring the classic Slip-On and Sk8-Hi styles, each emblazoned with artwork commemorating the album's 30th anniversary.

Big Enos: Son, you're looking at a legend.
Little Enos: I guess a legend and an out-of-work bum look a lot a like, daddy.

seat belts in the back for the kids but none up front for the adults—so the kids get to live on with no mom or dad. that's really dumb. and just because he's not a fan of seat belts in old cars? any parent should be able to look past their personal tastes for the sake of their fucking kids.

So Hetfield gets royalties on these for his contribution of the 'design' and they are completely black with a Metallica logo on the heal?

Serious?

I can't believe the amount of new Gibsons. I am so jealous, affording one would be enough. But stacks of them? LOL awesome.

HOly cow. I forgot all about Caballero. One of my heros from the 80's skate scene when I worshipped the Bones Brigade. I met him in Toronto at Skate Wave 86 or 87. Cool dude.

I'll put this in between the words "who" and "cares" just like Metallica & the Giants, Metallica's 3D movie, Kirk's surfing and horror shit, The Orion+ Festival and Lulu. Sorry if I left anything out...there's probably a bunch more.

For fucks sake, write a new Goddamn album.

I guess they're Metallica so they can do whatever they want! I actually just saw a trailer for a documentary called Sound City that is produced by Dave Grohl and is about the studio that Metallica recorded in. This trailer makes the movie look epic!! http://smarturl.it/SCtrailer

this is true. couldnt imagine having that freedom and in not really trying to rag on them. im a lifelong musician and would give my left nut to be in their position. but i feel once you gain all that fame and fortune, the fury in your songwriting/life, ect goes away. thats just fact. that "huge band" status just instantly candies your ass. thats why they make records(or cds :) ) so we can relive those past moments, i guess.
