MESHUGGAH Frontman Forced To Sit Out Atlanta Concert - Feb. 12, 2013
Sweden's masters of extreme technical metal MESHUGGAH have released the following statement:

"Jens [Kidman, vocals] is down with the flu. And this flu means business. He has been forbidden to even speak. He's mute for now. We will play [tonight, February 12 at Center Stage Theater in Atlanta, Georgia] anyway. So memorize the lyrics and bring your very best growl, Atlanta. You will all be Jens tonight!! Let's make this happen! We hope he's back tomorrow, or it'll be vocal duties Charlotte!"

MESHUGGAH is currently touring North America with ANIMALS AS LEADERS as direct support and INTRONAUT opening each evening.

This continent-shifting, sonically devastating tour launched in Orlando, Florida on February 11 and will run through March 3 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

A previously unreleased MESHUGGAH track, "Pitch Black", is available for free download as a two-track EP from Scion Audio/Visual, (a.k.a. Scion A/V), the in-house record label and lifestyle marketing division of the Scion marque produced by Toyota Motor Corporation for the North American market. In addition to the "Pitch Black" title cut, the EP includes a live recording of the "obZen" song "Dancers To A Discordant System".

MESHUGGAH's latest album, "Koloss", has sold more than 40,000 copies in the United States since its March 2012 release.

I saw them last night in Orlando and Jens was sounding pretty beat. Instead of screams it was more spoken and sounded like Mushroomhead's vocalist but I'd take that over waiting on crowd participation in the states. That makes Intronaut the best bet for the night because after that you're getting 45 minutes of guitar wankery by Animals As Leaders and then an hour and change of Muteshuggah.

Instrumental Meshuggah has to be pretty boring..... how long can you listen to a B5 power chord and not fall asleep?

I think it's admirable. Good on them for going ahead with it. I hope the audience is cool with it. Their fan base is rabid enough to carry them for one show, I'm betting. Good luck boys; get well Jens.

Wow, I almost took a night off to go to that show as Meshuggah has basically come to atlanta twice in the past decade. I would have been super pissed. I understand that people get sick, and the band goes on. Meshuggah needs vocals or its just too weird to follow rhythmically.

Personally I would KILL to see an all-instrumental Meshuggah show, it'd be fucking great.

I have no issue with Jens, but anyone that listens to this band for the vocals is kinda missing the whole point.

And to the unsophisticated baboon above me - you're probably best off sticking to bands like Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine if you find Meshuggah "too weird to follow rhythmically" without vocals. At least try to challenge yourself, for God's sake.
