HALESTORM Singer: Winning A GRAMMY 'Is Such A Huge Milestone For Us' - Feb. 11, 2013
HALESTORM was honored with a Grammy in the "Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance" category in the pre-telecast ceremony at the 55th annual Grammy Awards, which was held last night (Sunday, February 10) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. HALESTORM was nominated for the track "Love Bites (So Do I)" , from the band's 2012 album "The Strange Case Of…"

Writing on her Instagram, HALESTORM singer Lzzy Hale said: "Last night was an incredible moment...

"I want to say a few words now that my head is together.

"This is such a huge milestone for us. I've been in this silly band HALESTORM since I was 13. That's 16 years I've been working at this.

"We've been playing an average of 260 dates a year since I was a teenager. So after dedicating my life to rock, receiving a Grammy for 'Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance' last night is such an amazing honor!

"I'm so proud to represent for my genre, which, by the way, is the beating heart and inspiration for so many other genres (even all the pop kids want to be rock stars). I'm also so proud to represent for all my femme freaks out there; I am the first female to win a Grammy in this category. I hope to use this gift as a weapon of empowerment.

"Nothing great comes without hard work and patience. It's a huge combo of luck and tunnel vision.

"I'm living proof that you can achieve your goals in life.

"Thank you to everyone who gave us a chance and has supported us throughout the years. Most of all, thanks you to our families and our freaks for enabling us to do what we love every day. We love you!"

"Love Bites" hit No. 1, making HALESTORM the first female-fronted act in history to top the Active Rock chart.

The nominees in this year's "Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance" category were as follows:

ANTHRAX - "I'm Alive"
Track from: "Worship Music"
(Megaforce)

HALESTORM - "Love Bites (So Do I)"
Track from: "The Strange Case Of..."
(Atlantic)

IRON MAIDEN - "Blood Brothers"
Track from: "En Vivo!"
(Ume)

LAMB OF GOD - "Ghost Walking"
Track from: "Resolution"
(Epic)

MARILYN MANSON – "No Reflection"
Track from: "Born Villain"
(Cooking Vinyl)

MEGADETH - "Whose Life (Is It Anyways?)"
Track from: "TH1RT3EN"
(Roadrunner)

the only reason they won is because Jethro Tull wasn't nominated.

What is this the 4th article i've seen on here in the last few pages. Not that i'm complaining, cause they deserve it and kick ass!! I think Manson was basically counted out since day 1.

It was an incredible moment. An incredible moment that a better band (NOT Manson) did not win.

Their win is disgusting.

The Grammys have always been more about selling industry garbage than actually appreciating music. That's no secret.

But including such a shit act as Halestorm alongside the other nominees is insulting to every other established act listed.

It's all a fucking racket. This way their label can say "Our artist beat out some of the biggest and most respected heavy music acts of all time. GIVE US MORE MONEY!!!"

I must now go puke.

Eh, I wouldnt say Halestorm is shit...I would have preferred Megadeth to win (still pisses me off they havent won yet), but good for them for winning. With that in mind, it sucks they combined the Hard Rock and Metal genre, that throws everything off. Of course the hard rock act is going to win

Looking at the rival songs, it's not exactly a strong field. But good luck to the winners.

....as the backlash has already started to take hold.

They're OK... but, I don't think it was their time... and nobody likes it when someone receives false props too early.

"I've been in this silly band HALESTORM since I was 13. That's 16 years I've been working at this." No wonder she's so relieved, she's 29. Once you hit 30 in showbizz, it's impossible to break through as a woman.

That being said, them winning a grammy might be terrible, but here's hoping some actual good looking chicks enter rock because of this travesty.

If winning a Grammy is some sort of validation for your life choices, you still have a long way to go until you really wake up.

I just saw Flotsam & Jetsam, Overkill, and Testament completely level the venue I saw them at last week. The whole place was losing their minds and going absolutely berserk. Shoes were lost, bruises were formed, and hearing was destroyed. These bands have been going almost as long as Lzzy has been alive, yet there's not a Grammy between the three of them.

Do they feel validated? My guess is they would not have even played if they sought anyone else's approval.

If you were to ask me, I'd much rather have the artistic integrity of those bands than win a Grammy. This isn't a diss on Halestorm, but let's consider what really matters in life. For me, it isn't about pleasing a know-nothing country club enough to get handed a golden doorstop from them.

Screw the Grammys.
Screw the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Screw the pasteurizing of music by those that don't honestly care for it.
Support music, live it, and rage like hell while you can.

lizzy is a real girl--who loves her brother--loves to sing---gives advice to rock kids on the radio=--pretty good natured
---
lady gaga/katie perry are kind of like "sex ed"dolls on tv---to try to bring in "non reproductive" sex
as puppets of some kind of sex ed/tv agenda bullshit

as humans--it seems like they are exploited--sort of degraded
===
so lizzy is shining---and it seems like people on the internet are kind of "excited" about it--expressed as griping or whatever--
but still "affected" by it

cuz it seems like awhile since an actual "jammin" girl--kind of got her star

Maybe now they'll be big enough that they won't have to relentlessly plug Monster Energy Drinks at all of their shows.

I've never heard Halestorm, but I'm happy a relatively new song won instead of a 13 year old Iron Maiden song. It's almost insulting how clueless the Grammies are when it comes to metal. They pick live versions, cover songs, and totally irrelevant material from once-relevant artists every year.

I went to youtube and listened to this song...and laughed. Just more proof of how irrelevant the grammies are. Seriously, do you really consider this mediocre band to be in the same category as any of these bands?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammy_Award_for_Best_Metal_Performance

What a joke.

in these times of lady gaga, and tv communism--it could be hard for someone normal like halestorm to keep a career--

she should just do a duet with megadeth -- and be known as the queen of hard rock--
---
but also have a reality show about owning part of a bacon company-called "america pig"---they could show unkosher food and american flags alot

lizzy and her friends could deal with the latest hip addiction (computer screen inhalent addiction)---they could be real glamourous but deal with each others severe inhalent addictions with love and caring

then they could do little contests..like sell bacon door to door--see who wins---while dealing with excessive drooling, passing out, publicly, standing and staring into space

but with that beverly hills style
-----
then they could teach their fans about the latest libtard bullshit

eventually she could say that metal is dead--and change her name to "bacon cheese burger" (bcb)---maybe start rapping
