NIKKI SIXX Talks About MÖTLEY CRÜE's Next Studio Album, Eventual 'Farewell' Tour - Feb. 6, 2013
MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx spoke to Loudwire about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the band's next studio album.

Sixx and his bandmates last year released a brand new song called "Sex" to coincide with the launch of MÖTLEY CRÜE's North American co-headlining tour with KISS.

Written when the band was together during their residency in Las Vegas in February 2012, "Sex" was the first studio track from the CRÜE since their June 2008 release of "Saints Of Los Angeles".

"We've been writing," Sixx said. "We started the record with the song 'Sex' and I have a ton of riffs. I know Mick [Mars, guitar] has told me he has a ton of riffs and it's just a matter of now collecting riffs. For a while, it was only writing segments of music and getting together and collaborating but now I'm starting to finish music more like I used to more — like I used to in the old days — and finish it top to bottom. So I look forward to getting in the room with my band and going, 'Here's ten of my ideas, what have you got?' and then we kind of let that process happen."

Asked about MÖTLEY CRÜE's long-term future, Sixx said: "We haven't been shy that MÖTLEY CRÜE has been talking about somewhere in the near future doing a farewell tour. We talked about it on 'Piers Morgan' and different interviews. It's not that we hate each other or we don't work together well. I think it's just at some point we want to leave it with some sort of a legacy that's leaving it in a good way. I just see some bands that keep fucking beating a dead horse and I'm like, 'Get off the horse, dude, it's dead.' And MÖTLEY CRÜE is really at one of our highest points we've been and I would like to see us even climb higher by seeing us finish our movie, an album and then maybe announcing a farewell tour and going out at the top. It would be a really nice look."

I caught an interview by Eddie Trunk with Vince. Seems that when he left Motley back in the 90's he gave up the "partnership/Band Member" Title. I'm not sure if that means he is not involved with the writing. He did say they only call him when they are planning some shows. Or in the case of a new album he said he would not know what was going on. And that when they need him to sing on the record they would call him. That is just the business arraignment they have, it doesn't mean they don't like Vince or whatever. From what I can tell Vince likes it this way because of the freedom. Say what you want, but he's living a sweet life.

Not that I'm the biggest Crue fan, but it'll kinda suck if/when they hang it up...

...only because it'll mean we're all only getting older.

Seriously...we can bitch and moan about Metallica or Slayer or Maiden or Crue, but in 10-20 years, they won't be around anymore, and we're all going to miss them.

No. No, you aren't. Not by a long shot.

The commenter above was spot-on about Vince's "singing" these days.

"One. Feelgood. One. Alright. YOUR TURN! LOUDER! I CAN'T HEAR YOU!"

Stick a fork in it already, guys.

I said farewell to this band in about 1992. Since the 80's, only Tommy's MOM album had any listenability

Sixx knows he can be a hypocrite, because, hell, he's Nikki Sixx and this country allows guys like him to act and be that way.

Beating the dead horse?

They've done that since before getting back together in 05.

When the promoters come calling offering top $, you bet your ass they'll be out there playing. And, yes, the same setlist with the same shitty vocals.

Maybe Vince can have Slaughter open the shows??

If Crue were concerned about a lasting legacy they should have quit after Dr. FeelGood, and even that's debatable. It's too late now. 25 years from now people will look back at Crue with the same reverence as Weird Al Yankovic. Sorry fellas, the Beatles, the Stones, the Who and Zeppelin will still be remembered, but certainly not Motley Crue.

For their final record. Motley Crue should call Corabi and make another CD like the 1994 one.

That's a new dumbest shit comment ever, even you (such a load). You loads have no idea what you're in for when "your" bands are closing in on 50 . Not that Crue is the best muscially sound bang, but still, see what it's like in 20-30 yrs, ass pals.

For once I agree with parrotact666

Ditch the gasping idiot and get Corabi back.

It's taken 20 years but I think people would embrace it this time..

I think you should see who's doing a co-headlining tour with KISS in March in Australia for 8 or so dates. So they were right, they're still touring partners.

Just incase you're too lazy to check for yourself, here's the tour page info ;)

Mötley have accomplished being a band who made two good albums Too fast for love and Shout at the devil, plus a handfull of songs, when all is said, this is what's left - they generally sucks.

Btw. Kiss are still cool.
